Prisoner of War Films
It is a prisoner of war films on TCM tonight (for the start of memorial day weekend). They are showing Stalag 17. The Great Escape and Bridge over the River Kwai. Since Hogan's Heroes I've had an obsession with these type of movies and I especially like Stalag 17 & The Great Escape out of these 3. Both excellent films.
Kwai has its great moments too but I don't love it as much as the other two. I think it is bit weak compared to some other Lean films.
Although my favorite POW film is Grand Illusion mainly because I feel it transcends not only the POW genre but also the anti-war genre. Unlike the other films though it takes place during WWI.
