Let the Right One In

Everlasting_Day was the first to recommend this to me awhile back and since then I have heard a lot about the film & the book. I decided to go with the film because it was available instantly on Netflix. And despite the US DVD having bad subs (from what I've read) to my nice surprise the instant version on Netflix has the correct subs. At least if I am going by this site

Anyways I really enjoyed the film a lot. What can I say I have a soft spot for odd kids falling in love and you can't get weirder then one of them being a vampire. But what I appreciate about this film is 1) the young boy really was awkward (not just saying he was) and 2) the vampire really was a vampire (no getting around it with vegetarianism). This actually creates a moral dilemma because as a viewer you grow fond of these two kids but I think in the back of your mind you have to question "is it right." And I don't want to go into more details in case I end up spoiling something. Also I was worried about the ending but I loved that too.

Also I was thinking of reading the book but I heard it has quite a few disturbing elements not present in the film. I guess I can deal with those types of things but I am wondering if the book is worth reading now that I have seen the film. In other words if anyone has read the book how would you rate it in comparison to the film version?
