Series With Strong Female Characters
I wanted to make a list of series that had well written female characters that are not depicted in fanservice or Moe or just as a love interest. Please feel free to add to this or disagree!
These are in no particular order just adding as I think of them
Not as the Main Main Character but still with Prominent Roles
1) The Avatar Girls
2) Scully in X-Files
3) Female Characters written by Rumiko Takahashi
4) Female characters in Fullmetal Alchemist
5) Kaoru and Misao in Rurouni Kenshin
6) Nami and Robin in One Piece
7) The female characters in New Who (even if I get annoyed at the writing and the romance with the Doctor bits). I would also say this is true for many of Classic Who girls but not all of them.
8) Harry Potter Girls
9) Baccano female characters (for the most part)
Main Well Written Female Characters
1) Lina in Slayers (also Amelia of course)
2) Shuurei in Saiunkoku (she is trying to be a government official in a male orientated society that is awesome)
3) Buffy in BTVS
4) Youko and all the girls in Twelve Kingdoms
5) Kino in Kino no Tabi
6) Many female characters in Miyazaki's films such as Nausicaa, Kiki, Chihiro, etc)
7) Makoto in Girl Who Leapt Through Time
8) Yukino Miyazawa in Kare Kano
9) Sarah Jane (she is single and older that is great)
10) Ahiru and Rue in Princess Tutu
11) Lyra in His Dark Materials Trilogy
12) Isako & Yasako in Dennou Coil
And now I am off to watch Slayers episode 5...yay Xellos! :D
