Avatar Ending~Happily Ever After?"

While most of the opinions I have seen for the Avatar finale have been positive one of the things that some dissenters claim is the story's overall cliche happy ending. But I thought about this and how happily ever after is the ending really?

Okay yes on the surface Avatar does have a happy ending. The good guys win, no one has died and everyone and the world can move on and start to heal.

But despite this there is still an incredible amount of loss.
* Katara and Sokka will never get back their mother
* Zuko will never get back that happy home. And even if he does find his mother he lost those years with her when he was still a child.

Although the two biggest losses seem to be the Azula and the Air Nomads.

First of all yes Azula is a villain but she is a tragic one. Zuko remember Azula being "evil" back in Zuko Alone. But I am not so sure we can count his memory as completely accurate. I think Azula is capable of being good and was not born evil. And no I am not saying Azula is the same as Zuko, but I still feel she is a mainly product of her environment. And it is still tragic to see what this smart and capable 14 year old girl became because of her environment. For Ozai I don't feel sorry for Azula I do. Well not really sorry she was defeated sorry for what she became.

Then there is Aang and his people. It has been confirmed by Bryke that the Air Nomads are not coming back. Yes even if Katara and Aang happen to have a child who Air Bends (and it is not guaranteed) it will not be enough to repopulate the Air Nomads. The race is dead. If that is not tragic I don't know what is.

Also on a completely separate note one thing that I loved about the epilogue of Avatar is while watching it I really got this sense of wow we have come so far with these characters and look how much they have grown and changed. It was only a year for them but I feel we really watched them grow up over the course of the series. Yes I actually felt proud of cartoon characters. And in the end they did not just gain new friends but an extended family. ♥

Oh and Baccano Licensed by FUNI. HELL YES I am so happy you have no idea. And I trust Funi with their dubs and I think this can be a very good series dubbed. Also I think it is the type of series that can definitely get a TV airing.

Oh yeah sorry for the double post, I am just in a thoughtful mood today. :D
