Watched 3 movies in 2 weeks - Stardust, Beowulf and Enchanted.

My verdict?

Stardust is by far the best film I've seen all year! I'm just so taken in by everything in it, even recalling the scenes and playing out the dialogue and banter in my head, geez I can't remember the last movie I enjoyed this much! I could go on and on about it. But I will not, because I don't trust myself to do it justice. Such a star-studded cast too, except... who's playing Tristan? Charlie Cox? Nah, didn't know till now. But he's got a lop-sided grin that's rather endearing and befitting of the role. Anyone read the book? I think I'll go borrow from the library or buy it. Oh yes, and the soundtrack too.

Next in line would be Enchanted. Can't help myself, it's hilarious how they've weaved together the princesses from the classic Disney movies, into a cartoon-meets-reality movie with irreverent humour and yet heartwarming ending. Not entirely unpredictable, but not entirely cliched either, and c'mon there's Patrick Dempsey! What's not to like? With cyclops acting as an airhead prince, the woodland urban creatures cleaning house in familiar fashion, it's a novel approach to good ol' Disney fairy tales. Hah.

I'm not quite sure what to say about Beowulf though, it's rather maddening that the crazy fellow loves fighting in his birthday suit. Even when he's threatening to fight someone he goes into the process of stripping himself. Like, what the..? Anyway the moral of the story is, men are weak (read: sex), if not only for the evil of women (read: Angelina Jolie in gold paint). Graphics were pretty cool, plot was straightforward enough with some twists though the ending was not quite the "closure" I was hoping for, but maybe that was the whole idea.
