Tino sat at his desk, while browsing several sites on his laptop. He was looking for cheap and easy decorating ideas, and after watching several YouTube videos about thrift store and dollar store hauls, he finally settled on Pinterest. He was especially interested in finding ways to dress up an old lantern he found in the local thrift shop.

He clicked on various pictures with lanterns in them, going from board to board until he saw one that really caught his eye. It was a simple picture of a white lantern with gold stars dotting it, a lit tea light inside it on the upper left hand side. Next to it was a stack of books, a few autumn leaves on top. In front of it was a ball of twine and to the books’ right was a pumpkin. The main focus of the picture, however, was a wooden star-shaped tray with a candle inside it. Some leaves were artfully placed on one of the star’s lower arms and some cinnamon sticks were opposite them. Another candle and some dried orange slices, as well as some wheat, rounded out the vignette. Tino noticed the surface they were on was also white like the lantern.

Clicking on the picture, he followed the link and saved it. Even though Tino did not have the exact same things the picture had, he could easily paint the old lantern he had white and add a few gold stars. The craft store had plenty of wooden trays and he was sure he could find a star shaped one if he looked hard enough. If not, Tino saw no reason why a rectangular tray with stars on it would not work. He had plenty of candles he could use. The great outdoors was also full of autumn leaves and the food store a few blocks away from his apartment had mini pumpkins and gourds.

Tino grinned. The creative juices were flowing. He got up and went to get the pad of paper he made his shopping lists on. He sat down again in front of his laptop and made some notes. By the time his husband Didi came home from work, Tino had a decorating plan that he eagerly shared with him over dinner.
