Sister Elizabeth smiled as she breathed a sigh of relief. The winter pageant had gone on without a hitch. The dancers had danced beautifully, the children sang like angels, no one forgot their lines in the play, the Smith twins behaved for a change… it was a perfect performance!

Brother Antony returned her smile as he approached her. He idly wondered if she was dipping into the sacramental wine until he realized she was probably pleased about this year’s pageant. He chuckled and shook his head as he continued on his way. Every year, she swore this was the worst bunch of children ever and the pageant would be a mockery and disgrace of the ones before it, and true to form, once it was over she was pleased as punch until it was time to put on their annual spring pageant. That was when Sister Elizabeth’s fretting began anew…
