First. Minna-san. It's Vietnam's National Day :) So this entry will be one for you guys, everyone, to know more about Vietnam, to love Vietnam, and to appreciate Vietnam. It deserves to be a public post, right :) :P
HAPPY 63rd BIRTHDAY, VIETNAM !!!
If you know about us, about Vietnam, but no more than just sth like Vietnam war, or Vietnam - the country of war, or better things like Vietnam - the country which fought over the Americans and French about fifty years ago, then take a look at what im gonna tell you now .... If you dont know about us, about Vietnam, then you'll have to listen to what i say.
Cuz we, Vietnamese, are not the best, but we are proud, to be the ones who could overcome any difficulites, even the most difficult ones. We did, we are and we will always do our best to protect our country, our family, our friends and ourselves.
N.B: Everything revealed here in this entry is written/photographed by me myself, based on my own knowledge and is not copied from anywhere, so if you want to use any of those, please ask me first, and dont forget to credit.
This is not gonna be a full-of-text entry, so feel free to read more :P since im not a historical [haha] person myself, i write this entry simply to show you about my country, and to improve your view on Vietnam.
How many of you know Vietnam? Let's see, my FList .... i think everyone knows, since i kept scrambling about the fact that i came from Vietnam, not China :P
Nation flag, Yep that's what people call this ....
How many of you know where it's located? Argh i think less than the number who knows about it, right? Some may know, but just simple that it's near China, or Singapore.
Ah .... here's our Vietnam.
And the map in English for you ^^
Now ....
How many of you know anything else about Vietnam? Not just "Vietnam is a country", or "Vietnam is in the South East Asia", or "Vietnam is where Mai-chan is from." [lolz]. A few could know we went over 2 massive wars during those World War period, or some one know more that we were occupied by the older Chinese [i think they're called ancient Chinese? not really sure :( ] for over a THOUSAND years, ....
Ok no more questions.
Everyone may know, yes, we succeeded in fighting over the 2 strongest army in the world at that time, America and France. We set up a perfect example for other nations to fight against powerful countries, to bring back liberty to who deserve to have. We had to suffer from a great deal of difficulties that i do think not anyone could do the same. Many of us died from hunger, in wars, or because of various bomb spread. We had to keep on going even though there's nothing left to keep on.
I dare say no one could even think about Vietnam of today. We've improved. So much. During those 30 years of independence and of freedom, we've done a lot to improve our country. We have raods, we have high bulidings, we have almost everything a developed country has. We are not one of the best, or one of the richest, or one of the most modern countries, in fact we're one of the poorest. But we've tried our best to get to what we get today, that's the best thing.
I dare say, again, our country is beautiful. That's pretty much impossible, ne? I said above we had to suffer from a lot of bomb and countless damage after these wars. Still, we managed to build up our country to this stage ....... What could you say now? I think awsome is not enough :)
Do you need examples? I'll give you.
Hanoi, our capital city, where i am now. That's Hoan Kiem Lake, or Sword Lake. A beauty in the middle of our capital.
This is Ho Chi Minh City, the biggest city in Vietnam until last month. Now the biggest is Hanoi, the capital haha.
The below pictures are some taken last year on the occasion of TET - Vietnames and Chinese Lunar New Year. Yeah we have two New Years, but the main one is the Lunar one, which is obviously called TET.
The Year of the Rooster
The Road of Flowers
Vietnamese women in traditional "Ao Dai"
Vietnamese baby girl in traditional Northern dress
Making Banh Tet - a Southern Vietnamese traditional cake
There are a lot more, i swear. But since this is not a promoting entry, i wont post everything related to those beauty spots. If you want to know more, feel free to contact me, i'll scramble with you a whole day lol.
Eh ..... some of you may know about the APEC meeting which was held in Vietnam two years ago, right? ... if not then it was hold in Vietnam two years ago [lmao]. Many presidents of almost every country in the world headed to Vietnam, and enjoyed their stay here.
The costume of APEC Vietnam 2006 was our traditional AO DAI, which was introduced to you earlier in a picture above :D I had to say everyone looks super good in AO DAI <3
you guys, who wants one ???? Tell me and i'll bring you one :D
Ah i've got carried away =.= Here are .... President Bush of USA, president Putin of Russia and some other presidents showing off their beauty [xD] through our AO DAI <3
Sugoi, ne? ... I have to say AO DAI suits all of them so well <3
.............
After all, Vietnam now is still on our way to improve to the best, but we're proud. To look back into our history, Vietnam of today is a hundred times better, and about 30 years from now on, younger Vietnamese will look back into now, and proud to see Vietnam's improved much much much more ....
I'm not a type of ... idk what to call it, showing off their nation pride? yes im not that type. I do think our country is small and weak. But if anyone dare to tell me im not proud of my country, or eveything i know is just Japan and UK, i'll knock him/her/them down to earth, i swear.
ok end of this happy bday entry <3 This is a bonus for you, the ones who managed to read until the end. Thank you :)
This is a kind of flower which only grows in warm weather. In Vietnam we only have them in Ho Chi Minh City, since in Hanoi it is too cold .....
This year my parents managed to get one, actually a friend of my parents brought it from Ho Chi Minh City and brought to Hanoi as a present for my family.
The name of the flower, actually, is the same with my name, Mai :) It's a beautiful type of flower, and im really surprised that it could survive until now, even though the weather in winter this year in Hanoi is super cold .... Maybe it wants to tell me to be stronger ? Who knows :P
Ok here here here it is ...... Mai Flower. The flower of dream ....
Once again .....
HAPPY 63rd BIRTHDAY, VIETNAM !!!
