NATIONAL DAY!!!

Aug 10, 2005 17:04

one day late, but i was too tired to type this out yesterday.

me, angel_ng, hongkheng, seekoutastar, thebakasaru, and ochibi went to watch the national day parade at the padang!!! ^_________^ we had nice seats (grandstant), although we had to change seats once, due to the fact that there was a palm tree RIGHT IN FRONT of bezzie. the second set of seats were better.

but WAIT!!! this was AFTER angel, tez, and bezzie popped by my house to watch angel's ore-sama dvd! so let's rewind.

i got woken up at about...9-ish (i think) but my cell phone. BEEP BEEP, it's tez, with a message saying that she's too tired to come over early to watch the RK OVA 2. she'll be around at 10 instead, when angel and bezzie arrive. so i go back to sleep. i'm tired too, you know.

angel wakes me up with a call asking for my block number, so i tell her, and try to wake up. kind of. i make my way down to open the door, just as angel and bezzie come round the last flight of stairs. bezzie finds it amuzing that i looked like yukimura who just woke up.

ah, dear kaidoh, isn't that who opened the door, literally? ^_^ it was a tough choice, really, open the door for my tensai and crack half, of continue sleeping and dream of pretty, pretty men. ah, but the fear of what two forces of crack would do to me eventually won out over sanada.

ANYWAY. we hung out, they read my newly acquired PoT doujins, waiting for tez to show up. that woman was LATE. but she arrives. eventually. and we adjourn to downstairs to watch the dvd.

i tell you, the amount of CRACK in that dvd is amazing. XDD!!!!!!!! you have to watch it to believe it. i'm sure there are enough reviews on it, so i won't clog up my journal with yet another. yes, i'm lazy, so sue me.

we decide to eat lunch, and head for the adam road hawker centre opposite the road, but then decide that actually, we arn't really hungry. ah well, douby ghaut it is then. so off to douby ghaut we roll go!

just as we reach the landing of the last flight of stairs leading to the douby ghaut arcade, my phone rings. hark! 'tis vic,a nd she wants to know where we are. i tell her, as i walk, only to find out that wow, she's four metres away. ()()()()()

so while we wait for ochibi to arrive, we ddr and para.

OCHIBI REALLY LOOKED LIKE OCHIBI THAT DAY!!! ALL THAT WAS MISSING WAS THE CAP and THAT was easily remedied when we opened up the NDP funpacks and ochibi wore the free cap inside!!! my right shoulder actually started hurting on sunday for no reason. injured it (pretty seriously) on good friday, but it healed (or so i thought). every now and then i get a twinge of pain, but it usually disappears within a few hours, or by the next day. this one...it STILL HURTS LIKE A BITCH. how the heck i'm supposed to attend a kendo tournament like this is beyond me... so i think all the para-ing didn't help my shoulder one bit, but i'm a masochist, and even after the parade, i was para-ing. ()()()

at about 4, we zoom off to plaza singapura to grab some grub to eat during the parade (also because we hadn't eaten lunch). all in a rush, lots of waiting, people here, there, EVERYWHERE, loads of confusion, MASSIVE CHAOS, missing the train and having to wait for the next one (7 minutes...gaaaaah), that was basically what happened within the next 20 to 30 minutes.

then we FINALLY arrived at city hall interchange, and we had to walk to the padang. i was rushing everybody...it was kinda my fault too, that we were late. i tell you, dancing simulators OWN my soul... ()()()()

so we went through the security checks blah blah blah, found seats, changed seats (palm tree, 'nuff said), started eating.

me and tez bough noodle omelette, ochibi, bez, and angel ate corokke bento, and vic...i think she had her spicy floss bun ($1 national day promo at the plaza singapura bread talk). and given the fact that we were to be seated by 5 in time for the pre-parade stuff, we started eating about...5 minutes before everything started happening.

ever tried doing a singapore wave WHILE eating...? with chopsticks and spoons, no less. no waving of mini national flags over here. only waving of chopsticks. XD!!!

and then there was this dance thing that, really, looked more like national day para. seriously. like, if there was a song with the arrows in the right place, you COULD do it on a para machine. i kid you not.

anyway, to cut a SUPER LOOONG post short, the parade was fun, interesting, but not anything REALLY new. similar stuff each parade, really. and by the way, i think singapore has waaaaaaaay too many weapons. okay, so we'll be pretty well-armed, then, for the next war, but really...we're so tiny. but whatever. at least we won't be pushovers come the next war. so THAT'S where all the tax money goes to... the floats were pretty (ooh...shiny lights...) and the uniformed groups and all the marching units were really impressive (they were RULER STRAIGHT, all their lines,a nd their formation for the number 40 looked STENCILLED). one guy fainted, though, a few minutes before the president did his inspection of the guards thing. HOLE IN THE CONTINGENT!!! O.O THE HORROR!!!

the formations and fly-bys by the jets and stuff were cooool... ^_^ (actually, the marching preceded to fly-by, which in turn preceded the display of singapore's armaments. i have no idea why i'm going in reverse AGAIN...) i like tanks...and the bridges...and all the stuff... ^_^ military hardware is pretty interesting.

anyway, the other bits of the parade were pretty nice was well, but as ALWAYS, there is only ONE part of the parade that makes my heart go a-flutter with pyromania...

FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! especially since they're illegal in singapore apart for national day parades........ omg, the marina south one had SMILEY FACE FIREWORKS!!! XDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!! there were less fireworks overall at the padang this year, but that's probably because (most likely due to the space constraints--padange vs. kallang stadium) the parade was spread out over:
1) padang
2) jurong east
3) yishun
4) tampines
5) marina south

and fireworks DO NOT come cheap. aww...but they're so pretty........ *melts* i love the ones the seem to flow down like a fountain, and those (i think bezzie likes them too!!!) that explode, and then explode AGAIN!!! ^____________________________^

PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!

anyway, after the parade, we walked (yes, WALKED) back to douby ghaut. it's not that far, really. douby ghaut and city hall ARE only ONE station apart. so, more para-ing. tez left first, followed by ochibi and then bezzie. and then, eventually angel. angel left during one game that i was playing, and that game was supposed to be my last one. but well... HEY!!! THOSE DACE SIMS ARE ADDICTIVE!!! so i para-ed a few more games, ddr-ed i think 2 games...and THEN went home. you need not hear me babble about my trip home blah blah blah.

thus ends this post.

arcade, ddr, para, pot, ndp
