I'm quite bored...Kirabeard and Lija are off at Longy...
so perhaps i shall continue the story of my life!
...The person got close enough for me to tell 'twas a lass. She was running and yelling something. "His hair is yellow?" no...that couldn't be it. As she got closer I finally heard her correctly. "Miss Sarabella!" I eventually recognized her as one of my mother's maidservants. Personally, I myself didn't have any servants. Didn't think it was right. She finally reached me, panting, and quickly curtsied. "Ma'm, 'tis the master and mistress. They've come down with something terrible! Horrible spots n' all. It's just terrible!"
.....
"Alright then...thank you. Be on your way."
I wasn't quite sure what to do. They had the Black Death. I was sure of it. What to do...stay, watch all that I know fall ill and die away, and then eventually catch it myself? or leave, leaving all I knew behind...but not seeing it all dying away, and then perhaps escaping with my life...I would never live again anywhere else like I lived now in the court. Suddenly a chill wind blew down the empty street. Suddenly I broke out into a run towards my home. I tore into my room and yanked an old bag out from underneath my bed. Inside was mu trusty dagger from the days of my youth when i could beat any boy in our quarter. Also inside were 2 pairs of britches I hadn't worn in some time. I pulled one on under my skirt and began rummaging through my things. I put 2 of my nicest dresses, my work habit, 3 handfulls of gold coins, and a fork and a knife in my bag. I left a note, saying I would not be returning, and as i ran out, I grabbed my hunting horn and swung it over my shoulder. I took one of the horses from the stable and rode away as fast as I could, never looking back, only thinking "Goodbye Vienna...goodbye Lady Sarabella...". I rode for many days, stopping at taverns for food and rest. The weather became warmer as she left the mountains. She had no idea where she was going...just...away...
I came to a place called Treviso. I never asked questions of the people in the taverns, and was usually left alone. That night was not one of those cases. I entered this tavern, wearing my work habit, for 'twas not wise to stick out in a place unknown. I got the usual stare that one recieved when one was a woman in a tavern at night, one of confusion. I stepped up to the inkeeper and asked for a room and a meal. As it was late, and I was quite tired, I did not notice the drunkard sitting next to me, that is, until he felt it his duty to make improper advances upon me. Out of pure instinct from my fighting days, I turned and slugged the man right in the gut. "You disrespectful wench! Wait 'till I get me hands on ya'!" said the man. "Heh, let's see if you can," said I as I pulled me dagger out and danced about him. "Or would you rather wait untill you measly chances are better, when you aren't drunk?" I asked. He stood himself up, best he could, and unsheathed a sword, barely marked at all. "Oh now a sword, that's not quite fair, the odds are obviously in my favor" I teased. "We'll see about that." My little 8 inch dagger did quite a good job of blocking his attacks, but it had been some time since I'd fought, and he being much more brawn and tall than I, soon had his sword at my neck. "Hah, not so tough are we now? Well, are we? Speak up now." he said with a malicious laugh. "Stop. Right. There." said a voice that was strange to me. "Bug off, I'm havin' a little talk with me lady friend here." "Doesn't seem quite like that to me" said the stranger. My captor laughed. "Even if this did have anything to do with you, what are you going to do about it?" "I'll fight you, for the lady's life and freedom" said the stranger. "I see no profit for me" said the man who's hand was clenched tightly on my shoulder. "I won't kill you here and now" said the stranger as he unsheathed a beautiful sword, laiden and ornamented with many battle scars. "You, don't you dare move a single inch or I'll kill you in cold blood, and not even think twice about it" said my captor. So they commenced fighting. I saw no reason to move, I had nowhere to go...and I was fascinated by the stranger's grace at the sword. The stranger soon had the drunkard at the tip of his sword. "I'll spare your life, but only if you run out that door now as fast as you can." In shock, the drunkard stumbled out the front door as fast as his legs would allow. The stranger approached me and put out his hand. "May I escort you to your room, miss?" I picked myself off the floor, dusted myself off, grabbed my bag, and took this stranger's arm. He had saved my life, the least I owed him was to allow him to take me to my room. "Here you are Miss...now what is your name?" "Sara- ...aaahhh..." I oddly replied. "...and...um...uh, what might your name be....kind..sir?" I slowly drew out from who knows where. "My name is Remi Adam Marade, but most people know me as just 'Remi'." "Yes...well..that's great. Thank you for saving me. Goodnight then, perhaps I will see you at-" "-Miss Sarah?" he interrupted. "Don't call me 'Miss'." i answered. "Yes...well...might I come in, just for a moment?" I gestured for him to enter, because, it's not like I had anywhere to go in the morning anyways. He sat down at one of the two chairs in the room, both plain wood and without a table. "I found your skills with your knife to be quite amazing, especially for a woman." "Mind your tongue." I sternly interrupted. "Gosh, dear, what's nipped you in the bum?" I only glared. "Not to be offensive, but I've never met a woman before with the skills that you posess. I'm not really sure why I came in here...I just, wanted to know more about you" he continued. "Right, I'm sure that's exactly what you wanted," I groaned, "I am really not in the mood for this, please just go." I opened the door and gestured out. "What? No, really, I just want to know more about you. Where did you learn your skills?" "Fine...whatever." I had given up the fight. I commenced to tell him of my past...or atleast the parts he needed to know. "There, are you happy now? Now you have to tell me what you are doing here?" "Yes, I am very happy now. And I am returning to my home in Venice after a long trip to an investor's home. Obviously, I am not Italian, for I look nor speak like one. I do not know what I am, I have lived in many lands, you can't expect me to remember which one was the first? I live with my...well, I call him my father, although we share no blood...he took me in when I was 12 and taught me his trade. That would be shipbuilding and sailing. Ofcourse, along the way I learned to fence. Father builds the ships, I run his errands. I rather like it, for it gives me a lot of free time to, perhaps, even save a few damsels in distress," he laughed, "I miss the sea when I leave it, though. I always return to her. Can't live without her. Father says she's the only girl ever suited for me...Well, 'twas nice to meet you, I can see you are tired. Get some rest, the journey is always easier when you have some sleep in your past. Perhaps we shall meet again, and I hope we do, because in you there is a lot of potential..." And then he got up from his chair and left. As if waking from a trance I yelled "Wait! What kind of potential? ..." I sighed. "Well...atleast I know somebody now..." I thought as I fell asleep...
That be all for now!!!
