[ooc; Alright, people. This post will take place as a recorded log post. Meaning, we'll still post as though they are journal comments, but they'll be happening in real-time. For an example of how that works, check this out. All actions have been placed in ooc brackets while the speech continues. Of course those were just us being random, but proper actions are recommended. :D;
Also, to avoid confusion, all replies are to be posted as comments, until and unless people are adressed specifically. Raito will address people generally and when he addresses someone specifically, you are allowed to reply to those comments as conversational threads as we do normally. Oh, and from the starting date to the continuation, the trial shall run for 3-4 days in real life but will be counted as 1 day ICly because there's a lot to write and do and not everyone is online at the same time. So the characters that are here.. will be here until the trial ends. If it takes too long, we'll mention it ahead so we can break our characters free!]
To all gathering in the court for the trial today, welcome. As this is the first trial to be held in Vertere, the interested parties who have offered support will be present as the acting jury and the Police Force will be supporting aid and making sure of the smooth running of this trial until the court system comes into place.
As you all know, I will be acting as the Judge in this trial. Being a practitioner of Law in my own country before I was brought here, there will be a certain protocol to be maintained. This is not the court of a single country, but of many different worlds brought together and this court will try it's best to accommodate all the requirements necessary for everyone not only in Vertere, but on Interim Earth.
A judge can't have a preferred outcome in any case.. and a judge certainly doesn't have a client. A judge's only obligation is to the rule of law.. In every case a judge has to do what a law requires. Good judges are always open to the possibility of changing their minds based on the next brief they read... or on the comment of a colleague. No person is too high to be above the law and no person too low to be beneath the law, and that everyone, rich and poor, should be entitled to equal treatment under the law. I assure you all, not only a fair trial for the people of Vertere, but for the defendant as well. I wish this a smooth and fair trial for all sides. May justice be reached.
Today's prosecution for this trial will be lead by Officer Ky Kiske.
Reeve Tuesti has stated that he will defend himself until and unless he is somehow incapable of doing so. In the event of which, Avatar of Warning Vincent Valentine is allowed to speak for him.
There will be a break, and the prosecution will also allow the invitation of witnesses. With all of this kept in mind, we will proceed.
