My Growing Little Man

Kisses are unsweetened
By a bitter truth
A child without a father
A sad, but often child's youth

A mom who works two jobs
And plays two roles as well
Upon an act that she has made,
She tries hard not to dwell.

"Mommy watch me" goes unanswered
She has too little time
She has to work and cook and clean
And is shunned for her 'horrid crime'

"She's way too young, to do it right"
Is often what she hears
From the voices that she fights
Spoke by callous peers

But still she walks along this road
Doing everything she can
Because she's full of hopes and dreams
For her growing little man

And although she can not take the time
To watch here and now
She makes a promise to herself
To make it all alright some how

Now the kisses are resweetened
But not from whom they were before
But from her growing little man
That she so lovingly adores.
