A/N: It's done! It's finished. And it's about 87,985 words long. I know, I know I should have made it 100,000 but really I am pretty done with this thing now... Maybe there will be spin-offs in the future. Maybe. I'll have to see how I feel about rolling around in this AU again after working on it for so long.
My thanks goes to all of you who read and enjoyed this and especially to those of you who left me comments! ♥ Thanks to your encouragement I kept this going without abandoning it.
“Don’t think just because we’ve accidentally had to share our souls or did that symmetry thing whatsoever that I’ll go easier on you. And don’t think you can read me better because of it!” Fujigaya hollered across the field.
Kitayama mock-yawned and waved the other’s words off, “Come at me then.”
Yokoo sighed and walked up to the new meditation area. He’d rather join Iida in the peace and quiet up there than listen to the two rampaging idiots on the training grounds.
Things had gone back to normal at the Ghayi pretty much. Of course some more reconstruction needed to be done but all in all things were back to the way they used to be. And that included the people of course. Miyata and Tamamori were out somewhere in the city, Nikaido and Senga were in one of the empty lesson rooms. Master Takizawa and Master Tsubasa had taken the Snow Man Guard along for some training outside the city, while Master Yara and Master Ma’yaa had stayed behind.
The former could be found with his three disciples in the central garden, practicing.
All in all, things were going well and Yokoo hoped that it would stay like this again for a while. He’d had enough ‘excitement’ to last him for a while.
Looking over the capital and towards the horizon he thought that things were most likely going to remain quiet until a certain ship made its way back to the port. A ship with a crew of five. He didn’t know when that would happen though, only that it eventually would. And he was looking forward to it. He was looking forward to seeing them again, to see how much they had changed. Just as he himself and the others had.
Of course Yokoo knew that he wasn’t the only one who was waiting for that ship to come back. Not the one who was waiting and feeling the most impatient. He was glad that Kitayama and Fujigaya had seemed to go back to normal, although he had noticed something about them that had seemed different from before. And yet not. Those two had always supported each other, knowingly or unknowingly.
“Don’t just stand there, come on in,” Iida peered out from behind the curtain of the meditation room. He extended his hand in invitation.
“Coming, coming,” Yokoo grabbed onto the other’s hand and let the other pull him inside.
~*~
Nobody involved would remember the dark cloaked figure, who, after his deed had been done, withdrew to the deepest and darkest depths of the planet and closed himself off from it to die a solitary death for the sake of everyone above him. He sealed off the paths leading towards destruction which had been opened up by ‘him’ with his life energy.
“Nobody shall open this Pandora’s Box ever again.”
His hood slid off his head and revealed his dying face. A face nobody would remember and which nobody would miss. It was the face of an old man. An old man, who had arrived at the end of his days anyway. And old man who had been the very first to discover what people called the soul or the gift these days. An old man, who had taught three young boys at that time, how to use that special gift they had and had told them to gather others with the same gift and to pass on the teachings and further develop them. And old man who had then watched over them from the distance.
He wasn’t afraid of death. He knew his soul would live on. He would become part of the ‘voice’ and continue to watch over them all.
