Whatever happens days after tomorrow will be the result of our choice of votes. Whoever wins tomorrow’s election has our future in their hands.

I’ve never heard of too much political mudslinging in our history. I suppose not so much after all the existent technology possible to campaign for the candidates.  However was it that the candidates maximized their mediums to be known and to spread their platforms to the public, all sources had been utilized - wisely. Wisely to the point that even through text messages words which would earn mistrust from the public spread in a matter of days - even on a personal level. Whichever campaign paraphernalia were used, however these messages were conveyed to the voters, and however mudslinging was exploited to destruct the morally upright, everything lies on our decision.

From the ten candidates vying for the presidential position, the voters had been given the chance to choose, hopefully, with wisdom. It should be done in this manner tomorrow. However, at this rate it seems as if people will be casting their votes not with the foresight of what might happen to our country a day after naming our new leaders. It turns out that some of us are voting out of conformity - without rationale as to why a candidate deserves ones vote, where one could not even provide a single and simple reason for choosing a particular candidate, and while other’s seems to be easily shaken that they instantly change their minds upon hearing rumors about their supposedly choice

I am afraid that the election might turn out as a result of ignorance. Of voting as fence-sitters waiting for the current before jumping into and going with the flow.

Yet again, we are given the freedom to choose-  to  choose wisely with a vision for the common good, in social uprightness and with the knowledge of our social responsibility. Indeed, it is a matter of choice- may it be yellow, orange, green or red.  As far as I know, every choice entails a big question.

WHY?

A simple question answerable if and only if one is knowledgeable with whom they are voting for. It is plain stupid to vote for someone just because that person is wearing your favorite shirt color during meeting de avances. What’s more stupid is voting for someone whose name sounds so familiar and popular. Or maybe voting for someone whose advertisements has been all over everywhere. Or a candidate whose campaign jingles are in the tune of Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’.

Is this not moronic?

It this not a choice made by children whose thoughts are operating out of preoperational thought (Piaget)?

And another thing, what is with all these imposition that is taking place. Was it not clear that it is a matter of the principles, the beliefs and the personality of the candidates that we should be basing our choice? Or maybe such is not clearly understood for we are not utilizing our ability to think critically.

Is our country not at risk?

Have we not endured so much of corruption?

Are we not hoping for a change?

Tomorrow, I am certain that the election will only fail if we are voting for someone who we have not even given a thought of while marking our ballots.

Whatever happens days after tomorrow will firmly be a result of our choice. Either ignorance or awareness.
