Let me find that cloaking device
So... There's a lot to tell you, really but we'll stick to one particular...... issue. So if you've been paying attention you'll know that my computer has been running Linux since the hard drive shot itself in the beginning of summer. The choice was based in a couple of key points:
1. I wanted to be able to use my computer until HP sent the discs and Ubuntu was the only way to accomplish that at the time.
2. It was doing everything I wanted it to do and didn't have to do a whole lot for it (largely thanks to Geno).
3. When the HP discs came we tried to set my computer up to Dual boot.... and find that the discs don't work.
All that said, Ubuntu stays on my computer and I contentedly continue on with my life. The second set of recovery discs come and we presume they'll work but don't want to deal with the headache at this particular moment kthanksbye. Now, Last night Spore came out. We purchase it and decide it's time to get my computer to dual boot (or even just boot Vista I suppose) so that we can put it on My computer as Geno's won't run it as well.
After yet another series of headaches we have discovered that for the second time the HP discs do nothing. This ticks me off. Mostly I'm frustrated because I have have a proper key for Vista home premium but no discs of that alone and the Recovery discs on which it is said to exist won't properly tell me that. This means that the copy I paid for with my computer (all built in like) is moot for the moment and I'm sure as hell not buying a second copy just because the fools at HP can't send me discs that work. We did discover that I have 10 days left on my warranty (which we thought had expired). Heh. At that point the person Geno was talking to tried hard to set up a call to try to convince me to buy an extended warranty. Geno told them no. It was 2:30 am and I was half asleep in the bed.
I'll keep you posted about the craziness but for now I'm just ticked off.
In other news, I have to go to work soon. In other other news Dad is supposedly calling at some point today to talk to me about student loan stuff... Or maybe just finances in general. Not sure...
