As most of you know I went to Sheffield Euros this year, and I could live the competitions from two sides, the figure skating fan and the volunteer.
It was a great week, one I'll never forget althought not everything was good. We also had sad moments and I cryed a little (well more than that... you know how I am).
I was working as a volunteer at the Team information desk.
On the right was were the skaters had to go to take the lift and watch the competition and also all the skaters had to pass trhough this entry to go to the backstage, change room etc. So I could see everybody (yes, Plushy too... =S).
I had to work a lot, well, it was not exactly work, because all I had to do was to give the skaters those papers and to check passes to allow them going into the lift, but the thing was that I had to spend many hours there (about 6 each day) and if you add the competition hours, practice, and time we spend talking... it was a lot and some days I could only sleep 4 hours or even only 2! (I had to be ther twice at 5.30 am)
At the end of the week most skaters could recognize me and keep smiling me, and after seeing another volunteer asking for signs and pictures (since we had it forbidden during work) I decide to not me dumb and ask for them too. And that's how I got my banner signed by Tomas! and he remembered my presents from TEB 2009 =).
I also met Tiffany Zahorsky once (Alexis Myart's couple who compete for France in ice dance) and she was very nice with me! talking to me and I could spend my time sitting there better.
About the competition I have to say that right now I almost have no voice. So I shouted a lot to cheer all the skaters I like (sometimes with the orange team and sometimes not because it was imposible to find a sit near them). I cryed a lot when first Tomas didn't have a good lp and then Javi... but the most important thing is that after that they could keep smiling and try to forget what happened.
I'm happy that I could hugh Javi after the lp, and make sure he was ok, if I had stayed at home it would have been more difficoult I know.
I was also lucky because I could to go to most of Press conferences (I didn't want to go to men's lp and I missed the sp press conferences).
I also asked Fabian in the small medal ceremony if he has already found his sneakers and he said that not yet.
I saw all the skaters dressed for the party, the girls went with high hills (I'm sure I couldn't use that!) and some of the skaters were a little... happy ;) I got a pic with Tomas, and he hold me very tight and then he gave me a kiss on the cheek (and that night I slept very well!). I also talked with Luca and he said that he had watched the game interview in youtube and that he loved it!!
Finally on Sunday we did some interview games to people like Kevin Van Der Perren, Kim Lucine, Florent Amodio, Brian Joubert (yes, your are reading it right), Lloyd Jones, Tomas Verner, Nathalie and Fabian...
I have to say that all of them were really kind, specially Nathalie, Fabian and Tomas because they were really tired and they came and did the game.
I also have to say that now I'm more a Nathalie fan for her personality, she's lovely.
And well, too many things happend... and you'll see the interviews when we got them with subtitles. We didn't get Javi, I'm sorry, but we didn't have the properly time to talk with him in the hotel.
And I post some pics and you have the album in my facebook.
With the lovely Spanish ice dance team Sara and Adri.
