High School Musical

So, this is going to be a quick post, I think.
I just want to tell you a little story of what happened to me today.

My friend and I were bored at home so we decided to watch High School Musical (which I own because my mom bought it for me before it was a hit and before I knew how awful it was.)

I was in a stage version of HSM a few years ago, and the stage version if definitely better than the film. They changed a lot of the harmonies and such in the songs in order to make them sound more showtune-sy and less poppy, and the dances were so much fun, especially "Stick to the Status Quo". They also added some new songs and dances and changed the order of some scenes which made it much more like stage musical than a Disney Channel original movie. After performing in the show, though, I was (and remain) admittedly really sick of the songs, haha. But it was a super fun experience and one of my favorite shows that I've performed in. What irks me about the prospect of it opening on Broadway is that a Disney show will undoubtedly bring in millions and millions of dollars and most likely monopolize New York theatre, which would take money away from other shows. While I like High School Musical, I adore Broadway theatre and always feel at least a little saddened when any show closes. Plus, it's rumoured that Rent, one of my all-time

That's cool! Yeah, I figured the stage version would be a lot better. I really have a major dislike for anything Disney Channel (Hannah Montana, Jonas Brothers, HSM, etc) but I understand how High School Musical could be good in some cases.
Oh yeah, although I think that the Little Mermaid and Shrek and all those shows are probably really great on Broadway, it still upsets me that Broadway is becoming Disney On Stage.
And yeah, I will definitely check out if anyone is performing HSM around here. :P
