LeakyCon Part 3

Jun 15, 2009 23:25

Hello, again! So I`m finally going to write Part 3 of my LeakyCon blogs! I`ve forgotten all the minor details of the convention by now, so maybe this blog wont be as long. =D

Saturday

Saturday, once again, despite our determination, we woke up late again. After rushed showers and dressing, we headed off to the Boston Park Plaza hotel. We stopped off and got some sickeningly gross sandwiches at Starbucks.
We got there just in time for the Fair Fortune Wrock Opera which I am sooo glad I did not miss.
The opera is a 20 minute musical version of the Fountain of Fair Fortune and it was written by Lena of the Butterbeer Experience.
It was amazing. They performed in one of the enourmous ballrooms, and it was completely full. I have to say, I teared up a lot while watching it. I`d heard the reocrding a lot before (Its on eher beedle the bard ep) but live was a thousand times better. it was so...emotional.
Here is a video of the live performance. Even this makes me tear. lol. here.

<--- Lena and Jason of the Ministry of Magic, sharing a moment (being Sir Luckless and Amata)

After that was the LIve Pottercast. It was pretty darn awesome. John and Sue got into there infamous debate about whether Helga Hufflepuff enslaved the houseelves, and i feel pretty special for having seen that live.
At one point, a girl in the audience got up and she had a shirt saying
`Helga did not enslave the house elves`
John then appeared next to her, wearing a shirt saying, `Yes, she did.`
It was pretty funny.

Umm, Ministry of Magic also performed during the Pottercast so that was pretty awesome. I was quite sad that they didnt have a set during the wizard rock shows but at least i still got to see them play smoe songs.  They played Accio Love, which was aweesome. At one point people got up and started dancing. That was nice. =)

Then there was a lunch break. I dont really remember if anything epic happened then, but im sure something did, mostly because every single moment that I was in Boston was epic.

Oh, just before I forget, me and Sophie met this awesome person called Elaine during the Scavenger Hunt on Friday ( I think.) She was from Scotland, and besides Jenna (who I`ll talk about in a second) she was the only friend we made.
She hung out with us during some events, and I hope to see her at a con or something in the future! yay for awesome UKers! =)

ANwyays, then was the third and last wizard rock concert. This was the only one not happening at the castle. It took place in the Imperial Ballroom, a huge gorrgeous ballroom at the hotel.
It was suppsoed to start at 1, but it was delayed at least an hour and a half because they had to switch rooms a few times due to some difficulties.

Anyways, as we were waiting for them to opent he doors for the concert, everyone lined up down a hallway. And it became one of those `moments.` i have hard people refer to it as the Hallway of Awesome.
Basically, everyone started singing songs. Wizard rock songs. Quite a few Lauren Fairweather songs and Hank Green songs. It was just such a community kind of thing.
And this is where Sophie and I met jenna. She was sitting across from us on the stairs, and we both kind of exchanged awkward friendly looks every now and then. Finally she got the courage to come talk with us. Thank you sooo much Jenna. You know I would have never done it.
anwyays, she just became our friend. and she stil is. I think shes going to be in Montreal when HBP movie  comes out, so we`ll go see it together! I`m excited!

<-- me and sophie in the hallway of awesome
Anyhoo, eventually we were let into the ballroom. Sophie, Jenna and I quickly got seats at a table, but we knew there would be no sitting around at this concert.
RiddleTM started the night off. They`re not hardcore or anything, but they`re good. Very talented.

Next, the Mudbloods. I`ve been a fan of them for a while, so it was awesome to see them play. Adam is kind of cute, too. =P
Everyone jumped up and down and sang along to them, of course. I got really happy when they played Be My Witch because I love that song. :D:D

The Moaning Myrtles were on next, and they were incredible. I knew a lot of their music, so I could sing along a lot. Nina and Lauren are very cute onstage, with their little skits. They started it off by pretending that they were just thinking of the idea of starting a wizard rock band, and then as if it was there first wrock show.
They came on stage with tanktops and mini skirts, and heels. At one point they rean backstage and slipped into some more..fitting clothes. A hogwarts pleated skirt and uniform top. I dont know why, but i just really liked that. haha. I guess because personally, I would think so much about what I would wear onstage, but why not just wear a Hogwarts school uniform? Oh my...

Anwyays, at some point during their set, Sophie dissapeared. When I looked around for her, I saw that she had found her way to Hank Green`s side. So I squished past people to stand with her, and wegot to enjoy most of their show next to Hank.
It was hilarious when he started singing along enthusiastically to Prefects are Hot.
I was also introduced to their song Transparent during their show, and now I`m in love with it.

Then.  THEN. Then came the Remus Lupins.

Have I  mentioned that I am in LOVE with Alex Carpenter?
No?
Well, I`m in love with him.
haha.
Before LeakyCon I`d heard all this hype about him being good-looking and everything. I also knew that his wizrock bands was one of the most popular. Personally, I never really liked the Remus Lupins that much.
But the thing about Alex is that you have to see him in real life to understnad it. He gives off an aura of attractiveness IRL that you just cant understand otherwise.
Ooo, it feels weird writing about this publicly, because although I think that all girls understand what i feel, its odd because he isnt a celebrity or a not-person. Alex Carpenter truly is a real person. Which is weird. Because before wizard rock and youtube, I had never admired someone so unattainable who was actually real. Do you know what I mean by real?
Alex Day and Alex Carpenter are real, while Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt are not. Because I`ll never meet them, or talk to them, or have any sort of minor chance to become their friend.

ANYHOO. Back to the subject.
(Ah damn the internet just stopped working. I guess I`ll post this tomorrow.)
So, like i said, I never really liked the Remus Lupins so I didnt know much of his music.
But man, does he have a stage presence.
He wrocked it.

<-- SQUEE!

And, although I`m sure you`ve already heard, he ended his show by lighting his guitar on FIRE and then SMASHING IT.
His guitar that he`s supposedly had since the START of his wizard rock career. The one that had the word LOVE on it in black painter`s tape.
It was...epic.
And...

I GOT A PIECE OF HIS GUITAR. It`s tiny but its beautiful. =)
Alex Day ran on stage and found all the little splints and gave them to us. Sophie got one of the matches that was used to ligjht it. hahahaa. :D
I actually felt so bad after he broke it though. I went up to him to congratulate him on the amazing show, and he seemed so depressed. He told us that his friends had run up and thrown the pieces of his guitar out to the audience, but he had really wanted to keep it. I watched as he found all the people who had the big pieces of his guitar, and asked for them back.
At this point, I had all the merchandise I needed from the wrock bands. A "Team Lupin" shirt from the Remus Lupins, a shirt from Tonks and the Aurors that says "Im an Auror, That means I'm awesome."
A Leaky Cauldron shirt, "This cauldron's got a hole in it" and a Parselmouths shirt, with a warning about the danger of Spattergroit.
I got two cds, and a Gred and Forge bag.
I was pretty satisfied. (Although I'd spent SO much money.)
So we left the ballroom to get ready for the end-of-con Ball. '
After quickly getting changed into our dresses, and doing our make up, we headed off for the Castle, one last time.

When we arrived, the party was in full swing. There was a DJ (I didnt get a close look at him but im pretty surre it was Whompy - Matt, or Paul - Harry 7.)
I hadn't known what to expect, but basically it was an amazing dance party, with 'muggle' music playing the whole time.
Of course, I forgot my camera at the hotel, which was quite annoyin due to the beyond awesome things that happened there.
First of all, it was awesome for me on a personal note because I met and befriended Chellie and Monica of the shortsisters.

(this picture is actually from thursday night,. Oh well)

Although everyone was friendly and kind, I think that Chellie and Monica were the most willing to be friends. So thank you for that. 'Twas nice meeting you! And I hope to see you again somewhere or other. =]

Okay, so what else happened at that ball?  Well, we finally got to see Hank's epic dancing skills. That man knows how to move. At one epic moment, Hank and Melissa Anelli snuck through the no-entrance barriers up to the balcony below the giant clock. It was very veery high up. They then proceeded to dance VERY enthusiastically together, while everyone watched them from the dance floor.

The most memorable moment of the ball was when they played Total Eclipse of the Heart. Deathly cheesy but oh so emotional.

They played it twice, back to back, and it was the last song. Everyone got into their little huddles of friends, mine was Sophie, Jenna and I, and they swayed together. They danced.
I dont know why I say they. I mean WE. I have to say, I am so glad that I was there. I wouldn't have given up that moment for the world. I know that at some point, Alex Carpenter and Melissa Anelli acted out some silent drama to the song. (It was also Alex's birthday at precisely midnight that night.)
Although I missed that, I did watch Hank and Maureen Johnson do the same. Acting out a story of lost love, it was hilarious. Some how it ended with Paul DeGeorge lying on top of Hank, and Maureen staring in astonishement and hurt.
So funny.
I can't remember much else, except that we left at about 1 am and went back to our hotel, even though I really didnt want to. I knew that there were parties going on at the Boston Park Plaza, but I also knew that even if I were let into them, my mom would never let me stay long.

Actually, I know that when the ball was over, Sophie and I went to the Boston Park Plaza to await my mother (who wouldnt let us walk back to the Marriott alone) and we had some awesome friendship moments where we just danced together. We were hyper and excited and so HAPPY. I dont know when I had ever been happier. We salsa-ed around the lobby, and fox-trotted through the entrance way.
Oh, we are such oddities. =D
It was a great day.

Sunday
Sunday there was only a closing breakfast, and it was enjoyable enough. We sat with Jenna, and quietly discussed the con and the release of the sixth movie and all that jazz. I was sad that John Green had left a day early to go to a wedding, because I hadnt had the chance to take apicutre with him. I did get a picture with Harry and the Potters though. :D

<-- haha they are so odd. awesome though <3

Basically, LeakyCon was a ridiculously awesome experience. I'm already planning for LeakyCon '11, although I know the chances of me going to that are very small. Still, I'll never forget it. THANK YOU LEAKYSTAFF!
:D

<-- us doing what we are guessing is the leaky cauldron symbol (our hands are shaped like an L and C. we could be wrong though we just observed others doing it) outside the hotel with the castly behind us.

and thats that. here are some more pictures:

<-- me with Maureen Johnson, one of the most awesome people in the world. (It is thanks to her that I blog now.)

Okay. So if you actuallyl managed to read all this...wow. Congrats. I mostly wrote this to preserve the memories for myself, and for whoever wasnt there and wants to experience it in as much detail as I did.
