I’m leaving you guys and going to Africa.
I gave my presentation on US national security issues in Africa today and I’m tired of the bullshit. Africa will no longer be ignored and will not be exploited by neo-imperial powers who continually enforce sporadic borders created by greedy, old-school colonizers. I’m tired of combating terror in the Middle East while biological terror in the form of HIV/AIDS rages in Africa. And don’t lecture me about corruption. Corruption is large pharmaceutical companies refusing to accept relaxation in patent law so that life-saving generic drugs can be administered to men, women, and children.
Oh and just so we’re clear. Africa is a continent composed of Burundi, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gaabon, Republic of Congo, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Cape Verde, Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Sao Tome and Principe, and Seychelles. Among these superficially bordered off nation-states are distinct cultures and subcultures that cannot be contained within the large classification of “Africa.”
Let’s get it together world.
