Are you a raging ball of angst? The Tron (2010) Legacy soundtrack is right for these moments. Daft Punk uses the right lifts and lows of synthesisers to either deal head on or relieve the pain - depending on your state of mind. Either way it's cathartic. The purge.
I was far too young to have ever seen Tron, but I almost can't believe it's a Disney production. It seems very off-tangent for a company I relate to first hand with pirates, mermaids, singing frogs and animated cars. The premise of Legacy was intriguing, the visuals were wonderful, actors were true to the franchise. I am even more impressed at how the upgrades look so fantastic, and yet stayed so true to the original visuals and storylines. I won't lie, when the credits rolled I had a wave of disappointment - though thinking back on it now, it was probably because they had left that scary beautiful world behind. That MADE the movie, and to end off outside of it, well.. that was very Disney - you have to give your kids a happy ending.
I grew up with this "happy ending" concept and it leaves me wondering if it's scarred me for life. It's a well-known fact that when an idea is imprinted from young, it's far more indelible than when done in adulthood so WHAT WERE OUR PARENTS (or Disney but I love them too much to blame them - OMG BRAINWASHED) THINKING? Sure you want to shield your child from the truths of life when they're young, giving reasons that they should have their times of bliss while they still can. Does it actually help though? You just end up being delusional / in denial / ever optimistic that your happy ending awaits, and constantly disappointed that it never arrives.
With that there is no silver lining to ever be found. Man, someone needs to fund this "happy ending concept in adults" project.
