Ghibli Stuff!!
So Miyazaki's new movie has been announced!
"Gake no ue no Ponyo" (Ponyo On A Cliff), is to be released in the summer of 2008.
It's a miyazaki original story about a 5-year-old boy (based on miyazaki's grandson) and a goldfish who wants to be a human. The other interesting tidbit is that 70-80% of the movie takes place in or around the sea... so it'll be interesting how they handle it.
In other news, I finally saw Gedo Senki (still not subbed) while at home sick on the weekend. I promise not to spoil anybody. My non-spoilery impressions were that it was a good effort but that it lacked the heart that I usually expect from ghibli films. I was a bit disappointed. I look forward to discussing with people once they've had a chance to see it. (Maybe seeing it with subs will improve my opinion....)
