I like how it's called "The Controversial Survey", because that won't make people click and want to take it to reinforce their own opinions. Not at all.
Disclaimer: Also, you may actually read some things in here you didn't know about. If you're surprised by anything, I'd be interested to know what that is. :)
[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Hah "guts"! This stuff is normal workplace conversation fodder.
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
No. But that's mainly because I don't like any foreign chemicals in my body. Read: I've switched to
no-poo (for the most part) because I don't want sodium laureth sulfate absorbing into my skin. My newest excursion is ditching soap for water + scrubbing, with the occasional salt scrub. What can I say, I'm a dirty tree-hugging hippie. :3
[03] Abortion: for or against it?
For! Women should have the choice of whether or not they carry an embryo to term. Also, fewer babies born = lower human population = better environmental stability.
[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
World President? Not likely. .... ok, ok, in the strange and very distant future where we coalesce into a global government, no, being female doesn't make you more or less qualified to lead. It's more about personality than gender.
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
Um... this actually brings up conflicting ideals for me. 1) I hate killing (won't do it myself, not even mosquitos, heh), but 2) killing a criminal means no more government resources are spent on someone on Death Row (and therefore can be used to improve the lives of thousands of others in need), and again, lowers the population (those two are related). I think, in this case, #2 wins out.
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
If alcohol is legal, pot should be too. There are a ton more cases of people hurting or killing each other due to alcohol influence than marijuana influence. Ever seen a violent stoner?
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I'm okay with it. As long as you and your partner practice responsible sex, I don't think it even matters. I dislike how society and so many "family values" are instilled into teens about how sex is inherently bad. It's honestly screwed me up pretty badly, growing up in that kind of environment. I can't do anything of that sort without being racked with guilt afterwards (or sometimes during). I'm serious. It's really sad.
[08] Do you believe in God?
I used to, when I was young and being raised Catholic. Now? I don't believe the God as depicted in the Bible exists, no. I no longer deny the possibility that there might be a deity somewhere, but for the most part, I believe in abstract concepts like Fate, Nature, and y'know, Science.
[09] Do you think same-sex marriage should be legalized?
Hellyes. You bet your ass I'm going to vote to keep this legal when it comes up on the ballot in November. Gender doesn't change love.
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Honestly? I don't think about it ever. It's partially because I don't know very much about the issue at all.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
She herself? Probably not, unless she somehow has the resources at 12 years of age to support herself and a baby. Her family may opt to keep it.
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
I don't think it matters. It's the fact that alcohol is considered illegal that makes it so appealing for young people. It doesn't matter what the age is, there'll still be underage drinking.
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
It shouldn't have been on in the first place. What ever happened to hunting for Bin Laden? I haven't heard anything about him in years. Now that it's on, though, yes, I do think it should be called off because too many people are dying for a piss-poor reason.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
No. It's more like euthanasia. If the patient has a good reason to want to die, then the most humane thing someone can do is to make the passing easy.
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Yes. It's called discipline, and without it, kids grow up unruly. I was spanked growing up. THIS IS NOT DOMESTIC ABUSE. People who call it that don't know what discipline is really like. It's not a "fine line" between physical discipline and abuse. I'm appalled that people are even scared to talk about spanking their kids when they're doing something stupid. I was spanked - I knew that I did something wrong, and my parents were always very heartfelt and emotional afterwards, and always made me understand why they had to punish me. My cousin was abused (relatively lightly) - her father hit her sometimes when he was angry, or vented his frustration on her, until she was about a teenager. Big difference. You bet I'm going to be spanking my kids when they do something bad. Otherwise they'll turn out like the majority of annoying children running around nowadays, in the US and Asia.
I feel strongly about this one, can you tell?
[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
For a million bucks? Uhhyeah. It's a piece of cloth.
[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
Bleh. I don't really like either of them anymore, though if I had to choose, I guess Obama is better.
[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
A little, but not that much. Most people on here already know what I'm like. This is just expounding on that a little bit.
I guess I'm being rather harsh today. o.o
