During the short drive around the city of Vancouver in the airport shuttle bus from my hotel I came to a realization. It's all the same. Each and every Canadian - even North American - city a carbon copy of the next. Looking out the dingy window of the bus even the majesty of the mountains was blocked out by views of Costco, with its row upon row of cars sitting dormant on cold, un-alive grey pavement; of Home Depot boasting its gift of Air Miles - chance to escape to yet another carbon copy; of Tim Horton's (God bless his soul) with the obligatory line of fast serve drive thru cars, people on their way to the rest of their caffeine enhanced lives, which is much better than not...
A quote from my Starbuck's coffee cup:
"The Way I See It, #53
Be exceptional. Make tremendous efforts to be extraordinary. What a privelege to be here on the planet, to contribute your unique donation to humankind. Just make sure you do so...."
Yeah, just like Time Horton did.
So here I sit drinking my coffee, waiting to be dropped into something much different...at least one would hope.
