A Memorial to Our Dear Chat Service

Oct 18, 2017 09:55

Friends and Strangers,

We gather here to mourn the passing of our dear chat service, the AOL Instant Messenger. While the service still works, in these last two months, we should take this precious of all moments and reach out at least one last time, in a celebration that AIM has provided us these last two decades.

We came together at this place, may that be in boredom or desperation, to fill reach out into the void and ask for a little attention. In this community, I found friendship that lasted years, and chit chat that lasted minutes.

We may think that the world sees us in the simplest terms, In the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a Brain... and an Athlete... and a Basket case... a Princess... and a Criminal...

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
