icespark and I started our
GenConning Saturday by playing the prototype Mouse Guard board game. The game, which used a board of constructible tiles you added as you played, was interesting as it encouraged cooperative play and storytelling. We were doing well securing the roads for mouse-kind until
icespark got the Black Axe and tried to take over the Guard. After that, all fell to ruin! Traitor! *grin*
After Mouse Guard we went to a panel called "RPG Super-Heroes vs. the Forces of Boredom." I was hoping to get some good advice on improving my Exiles game, but unfortunately there weren't a lot of new ideas besides "know your players" and "use the characters' backgrounds for plot ideas." The panelists were more facilitatorsthan presenters, so they just asked questions and let the crowd do the talking, with mixed (but interesting) results.
After the Super-Hero panel we tried to meet
combsct and
elbanditorojo for dinner, but they wound up not having time. We did run into
anjala and D!1, but couldn't stay to chat because we needed to get to the board game room to play Reiner Knizia's Mmm...Brains! Mmm...Brains! is kind of like zombie Yahtzee, which didn't seem very interesting at first but quickly became strangely addictive.
When we got kicked out of the board game room so they could set up for Humans!!! Vs. Zombies!!!, and I got ready to go to the
GenCon masquerade ball.
icespark and I met
lildomino,
hotarugirl,
tentacularone, and their friends.
hotarugirl and
tentacularone were wearing wonderful Victorian steam punk outfits, and we all hung out and enjoyed the costumes, eye candy, and music until leaving to go attend a hentai dubbing.
Unfortunately we couldn't get into the hentai dubbing, so the group split up, and
icespark,
lildomino,
hotarugirl and I went to Denny's for late-night snackage. We were all *very* tired, so after we ate
icespark went home, and
hotarugirl and I went back to
lildominos to sleeeeep.
