I had a very pleasant weekend, even though I was feeling sick during a lot of it. Friday my throat was bothering me, but I thought it was just allergies from cleaning. I drank a lot of tea, and after I got off work I headed down to Evansville to visit Laat. She was supposed be having a Girls Night In since she was house-sitting for her dad, but she was good enough to have me down anyway. The GNI got cancelled, so I wound up having her to myself. It was fine to catch up since I hadn’t seen her in months.
Unfortunately, she has insomnia, so she didn’t really sleep, so at the end of every sleep cycle when I woke up briefly she was awake, which led me to wake up as well before eventually falling back asleep. Early in the morning she gave up and got up and dressed, but she let me sleep a few more hours before I got up and showered. A little after noon she had to leave to pick her dad up at the airport, so I hugged her good-bye and headed out.
I called
hotarugirl, and she was due to get off work soon. I headed to her work and waited for her shift to end. We went out for yummy Bob Evans (it was breakfast for me), and then stopped back by her work to pick up her cell phone. Unfortunately, by this time my throat was really starting to bother me, so I decided before I headed back to Indy I would stop at a clinic and make sure it was just allergies and not anything contagious.
I called Urma first, and she said she had plans Saturday night, but if I wanted to go over there now we could hang out a bit while she was still free. I warned her I might be sick, but she told me to come by anyway and she’d risk it. I got to meet her kid (very cute) and hang out with her mom, who I got along well with Back in the Day when Urma and I were friends just out of high school. Urma’s mom and I talked about our international travel experiences, and we had a good time.
When Urma had to get going, I walked her and her kid home (she lives in the same complex as her mom and dad) and then headed to clinic in Evansville, where I got the bad news - I have strep again (oy!). I called
icespark and she helped me find a 24-hour pharmacy so I could start my penicillin immediately, and then I started my drive back to Indy.
icespark offered to comfort me and make me more tea, so I went to her house and wound up sleeping there.
Sunday morning
icespark and I slept late and then went to Outback for brunch. Eventually I made my way over to
lildomino’s house since we had plans to go to the drive-in. We grabbed some Steak N’ Shake and hurried to the theatre, afraid if we didn’t get there early there’d be no place to park since it was the last weekend it was open. We had no problem getting a good spot, however, and enjoyed the Simpsons Movie, even if we were too sleepy to stay for the second feature.
Today I’m feeling fine, and according to the Evansville clinic doctor, I’m no longer contagious. This is good since I’m back on a Monday through Friday work shift and don’t feel like fighting a losing battle with FMLA again just to avoid getting my co-workers sick. Tonight after work I plan to MUX, even though I already missed the end of
colchek’s cool TP. Ah, well. Plenty more fun to be had on the MUX, including TPs of my own that I’ve been sorely neglecting.
Wash: “Little River just gets more colorful by the moment. What'll she do next?”
Zoë: “Either blow us all up or rub soup in her hair. It's a toss-up.”
Wash: “I hope she does the soup thing. It's always a hoot, and we don't all die from it.”
