Can't sleep tonight. It's 1:30 AM. Here's what's on my brain.
1) Heavy Rain was terrible. Took me about half an hour of actually playing it to throw it back in the mailbox (after spending about four hours installing it and it's massive patch dump). Just because you can make the player have to press four buttons just to fumble through their pockets to look for their wallet doesn't mean you should. Everyone I encountered (including myself) was a feeble moron who looked creepy as hell and had terrible dialog. The illusion of choice is present, but if you dilly dally before doing the magic thing the game wants you to do it will just make everything take longer. Why isn't this just a bad episode of Criminal Minds? At least I wouldn't have to play it.
2) I love vintage They Might Be Giants. Not much they've done after the excellent "Apollo 18" album was worth listening to, but their classic period is still awesome. I'm listening to their album "Lincoln" on Rhapsody and reliving the glory days. Ah, life.
3) As my grandpappy Old Reliable used to say... don't recollect if I've ever mentioned Old Reliable before...?
4) Can't wait for the next (final?) Bela Tarr film, "The Turin Horse" to finally get released over here. I'm going to fly out to whatever city it's playing in, since it'll probably be my only opportunity ever to watch one of his films in theaters. I and 4 other art film geeks will probably be camped outside the cinema with a frenzied look in our eyes before the movie, creeping out all the passers by. Good times.
5) Why am I so addicted to Deck Building card games? I think it's because they're essentially competetive shopping simulators. You race to purchase all the good cards and hoard them in your deck before the other players. Of course, shopping isn't manly, so they wrap everything up in some fantasy world. Is it any wonder that my favorite (Tanto Cuore) is pink and involves hoarding cute maid girls?
6) Oh TMBG, I love you. "I've Got A Match" is one of the most beautiful songs of all time. I think I'm feeling wistful enough now that I can sleep. Good night Internet... see you in the morning :)
