Games Roundup!

I don't really buy many games until they're waaaay out of date, and thus, cheap. That's why I don't post a lot of game reviews. But I just went on a buying spree of X360 games, so I felt the need to briefly rant the games I've played recently in bullet form.

-Desktop Dungeons (PC): An unusual hybrid of Minesweeper and Rogue, and much harder to describe than, say, Puzzle Quest. It's ridiculously strategic, addictive, and it comes in bite sized chunks of 10 minutes or less. Oh, did I mention... it's fucking FREE?

-Kinectimals (X360-Kinect) This game has made the Kinect worthwhile for me. I really don't care if they ever manage to force a "hardcore" game to use it, I want to use my Kinect to pet a virtual tiger. I'm completely serious. I play this game for about 30-60 minutes every night. I'm gonna explore the hell out of this island, and PET ALL THE KITTEHZ. Not recommended for people who don't love petting all the kittehz.

-Fallout 3 (X360) Yeah, again, about a year or two behind the curve. It finally got cheap enough for me to take the plunge and so far I like it. Nice blend of RPG and shooter mechanics, with more RPG than I expected. Let's see where it goes from here.

-Deathsmiles (X360) I've tired of Bullet Hell games lately, but this one has a few twists. It's horizontal, you can shoot forward, back, and in a radius, and instead of a spaceship you pilot a goth loli girl. It's also completely insane. Seems like fun!

-Dead or Alive 4 (X360) It's DOA just like I remember it from college! Jam on buttons! Hit some dudes! Yeah! Break a wall randomly! Get schooled by the third computer opponent because I have NO idea what I'm doing! Set my age to 99 and get smacked in the face by virtual boobs! Ah, youth. Worth the $10 this game cost me just to relive those fleeting memories.

-Rhapsody (PS1) Borrowed it from a friend, but it's not as addictive as I remember it. Of course, 10 years ago when this game came out, decent games aimed at girls were pretty rare in the US, so it seemed a little more groundbreaking. But today, it just doesn't grip me... that, and it's way too easy. You can get pretty far by just pressing the "fight for me" button.

So yeah. Games are fun. Especially when they're old and seriously cheap! Waiting certainly has it's advantages, even if it does make me sound a bit clueless.
