[Cain had risen early and left a note for his for his family on the side: GOING OUT. BACK LATER. CAIN. So now there was a small ten-year-old boy, muffled up in a scarf and coat, knocking on every door. He sounds bunged up with a cold, but he's smiling enthusiastically at whoever answers. A, hope this is okay! whiterusestra October 14 2011, 18:43:24 UTC
[Belarus is lowering slightly so she can look eye to eye with this boy. Family has a lot of meaning to her, and the way he acts reminds her of her brother when they were little, almost.]

Is your fake family, or your real one?

A of course it is! kinships October 14 2011, 18:49:41 UTC
[He looks thoughtful for a moment, rubbing his runny nose.]

Abel is my real family, from back home, my big brother. The others aren't related to me exactly, but I don't think that matters for them to be family. They're still stuck here like me, and I bet they could use some presents to cheer them up, so I thought I'd try and earn money for them.

[she stares at him for a long moment before nodding her head]

There is nothing to be done with this house. Money is not mine. You are sick. Can step inside for a moment. [she leaves the door open behind her and goes into the kitchen to look for some cash.]

[She talks in a strange way, so disjointed, but he doesn't mention it. Instead he smiles and follows her into the house, pleased to be in the warm even if there were no jobs to be done.]

Thanks for inviting me in, miss.

[she suddenly looks up and over at him] Don't steal anything.
[the more pitiful and oconvincing the story, the more likely they'd steal, she'd learned that from besprizornye.]

[she's found some money, it seems. It was just sitting there, next to keys. to the car? most likely. she's bringing it over though.]

Here. [she hands him a wad. What? it's not her money.]

[He is about to protest he would never steal, when she offers him such a thick wad of money. Gaping, he turns shining eyes up to her.]

Are you sure, miss? This is so generous!

[she holds it up to herself for a second, considering it.] Perhaps I should not.

[she peels off a dollar, sets it on the counter and then hands it over] Don't send more people. [and now she's escorting him BACK to the door]

[That makes him smile slightly, amused. He thinks she is perhaps a little eccentric, to put it kindly, and so takes the dollar with a grateful nod.]

Thank you, that really helps start the fund off.

Yes, yes, go help your family. Work hard, become stronger. Can provide for them that way, don't rely on others. [and then she closes the door after him]

[Well, that was abrupt. He's a bit surprised to be so firmly escorted out and the door closed, but grateful for his first dollar.]
