(no subject)
well, things are looking up and out in a way. I finally have a job which I start training for next week (telemarketing for Oxfam. gag.), and while it'll still be hard to make ends meet, I'm really glad that I finally have something at least.
my Yoruba application for the summer is pretty much finished. I have to get on Abdul Nanji and GM to send in my recs, (and Akin), but my part of the process is complete. I hope I get it. I also applied for an internship at UNHCR that would take an act of god for me to actually get. I think (?) I have a chance at the yoruba thing, but who knows.
and tomorrow I'm going to Bath! My friend Miriam and I are going, and I think it'll be really fun. my mom told me that Bath is one of her favorite places on earth, so I think I'll probably like it too. today I took a shortcut home through the British Museum and looked at some Roman glass from Bath, and it got me pretty excited. we're taking the train.
been going to a lot of markets lately. went to portobello road over the weekend with Matt and Harvard Sam. we bought some food and came back to make dinner, and then went to a quiet pub in the neighborhood for a pint. they're really nice guys, and we laugh a lot.
oh, and Mamdani is coming to SOAS next week for a talk. weird.
