Megacon
Lets see. From the 25th of February to the 27th I was down in Orlando at the Mega Convention having a wonder full time. On Friday I was up and moving by about 7 a.m. had my step sister to school by 8:20 a.m. and then on the way home I stopped by the bank two cash some checks I received for some side tech jobs I had been doing the past few weeks. My other stepsister, two of our friends (Heathre AKA Miw, and Tony) and my self where all supposed to head down to the con about 9 a.m., but that didn’t happen. It seams that Map Quest gave Tony the wrong directions to the house and he didn’t get here till about 10 a.m. so during that time I did some last minute packing as well as paid some bills.
Once Tony and Heathre arrived and we where all packed we headed over to Wal-mart to do some grocery shopping and once that was done we all headed down to Orlando. Along the way we stopped off at a McDonalds for lunch and Trista and Heathre wanted happy meals if they had the “My Little Ponies” so heather could make them into her “Bi Little Ponies”. We where told that they had them, but they lied to us. And when I asked them about it at the drive through window the girl working it was very rude and got a really bad attitude when I asked for a bag for the trash. Needless to say I talked it over with the manager and got it straitened out and we got back on our way. We arrived at Orlando around 1:45 p.m. checked into the hotel early and then walked over to the con center after carrying up all of our bags and stuff.
After relaxing for a few moments I hopped into my costume and we all walked down to the Orange County Convention Center where the Mega Convention was being held. As eh started walking a Light drizzle stared and by the time we arrived at the convention center it was a full down poor. On the way there I had a lady come up to me and thanked me for serving our country (You will see why when I post the images of me in my costume). After we had picked up our tickets we all kind of separated and did our own things and I started to wonder around taking pictures, and having pictures taken of me. After about 30 minutes Trista calls me up on my cell and we met up at once corner of the con and walked around together though Artists Allie where I stopped off to see Tim Buckley and picked up a signed copy of Ctrl+Alt+Del Vol. 1 at Tristas suggestion. I also stopped off to see Scott of VGcats where I bought a signed print and he drew me a sketch that tied in nicely with the costume I was wearing. Unfortunately he didn’t have any shirts due to the fact that the US customs office confiscated them on his way over from Canada. And finaly I also stopped off to see Brian of 8-Bit Theater where I picked up a copy of his book Nuklear Age.
While I was in line to get my sketch the fine Deputies of Orange County came up to me and pulled me off to the side where they proceeded to beet me to a pulp… Just kidding, they where just checking out my Airsoft Rile and pistol to make sure they where real and once they knew that I wasn’t some maniac who was going to go on a killing spree they thanked me for my cooperation and went on to check the rest of the con attendees who had Airsoft guns as well. As the day wore on I stopped by the Reaper Minitures room to see my Friend Blake AKA Chitter who is a member of the Black Lighting Demo Team. We hung out for a few minutes and then I went back out to the con where I was stopped by the folks at Risingsun.net for a small photo shoot of my costume. As it started getting to be close to dinner time Tony and my self walked back to the hotel to get my car and along the way we stopped off to get pizza for us all to eat, and while he was waiting for it I went the rest of the way to the hotel to get the car. Once we got back to the room and had dinner we all crashed out for the night.
On Saturday we all got up about 8:30 a.m. and did our morning routines and then headed down to the lobby for breakfast, and after words we all piled into my car and drove to the Con. After we got there we all separated into our own little groups and I wondered around some taking pictures. While I was wondering around I met up with a classmate of mine who was dressed up in a costume form an Anime that I can’t remember the name to right now. But he entered the Cosplay contest and won best of show later on that night.
Trista, Tony, and Heathre met up with me at one of the meeting rooms to see Select Start that unfortunately turned out to be a different group than the one we had thought. After resting for a few moments the Deputy that checked my airsoft yesterday came up to me with the OCCC management and asked me to put it in my car. After a few minutes of putting everything away so I could transport it without incident I had several people come up to me and tell me what a bummer it was that I had to put it up and that my costume was one of the best Stargate Costumes they had seen in a while. Once I finished putting my airsoft’s away and got back into the con I joined up with a Paranoia LARP that was kind of fun. Unfortunately I think while I was running around during the lARP the digital camera I had fell out of my pocket without me realizing it and now I have to eat about $200 to replace the SD card and the Camera. The camera should be here by Monday.
That night we all went out to Fudruckers with Will who is a friend of Heathre’s. Fudruckers is one of the most kick ass burger places you can go to. If you haven’t been there before let me tell you it rocks. You go up to the counter and order your burger, they have a verity of poundage’s for the meat ranging from ¼ pound to a full pound of meat. They also have buffalo and one other type of meat as well. I think I might be ostrage, but I’m not sure. After we all walked around a bit we went back to the room and stayed up till something like 1 a.m. before I finally went to bed.
On Sunday we all got up about 8 or so and then went down for breakfast. And then Trista Will and my self went the BACC (Bad Ass Coffee Company) and got every one something to drink. Once we got back to the room every one else went back to sleep while I started the last bit of my packing and once every one woke back up we all packed the rest of the stuff up into the car and checked out. We then went to the con where we stayed there till 5 or 6 pm talking with friends we had made at the con as well as did last minute shopping for stuff. One of the things that was purchased was a Teddy Scare for my moms birthday. We all then packed into the car and headed for St. Augustine after about the third call from Heathre’s mom wondering if we had left yet. We finally got back into St. Augustine about 10 p.m. after dealing with the construction around Daytona Beach. Once we got back to town and had everything packed up in Tony’s truck he tried to start it up and it wouldn’t turn over, turns out it doesn’t like to sit in one place for more than a day or two and it was just being difficult to start. My step dad finally got his truck to start for him and Heather, Tony, and Will all went back to Jacksonville and I crashed out as soon as I got the rest of the bags and the like out of my car.
That is it on what I did at the mega con. Uhh and this is probably going to be the longest post’s I will ever do on Live journal.
