It was only a fun thing for the week and a half that I knew him, but I have grown very fond of his company and feel pretty damn crappy knowing I won't see him again for 2 1/2 YEARS.

So, now that you've got some time to talk, where did he come from/where is he going? And why is it 2 1/2 years?

He came from boot camp in chicago, but he grew up here. He was visiting family for 2 weeks. Now he is off to South Carolina. He's a medic in the navy.

Ah...that explains much. Where did you run into him?

One of the girls I work with, Natasha, has known him for several years. He's kind of a big brother to her. She introduced us.

That's a good way to meet people, from what I've heard. It sounds like it worked out for you, at least...
