I didn't think we could do it
“Well, Sunshine, care to tell me the reason for this elaborate set-up here?” Brian carefully checked out the tastefully laid dinner table, lit candles and Justin’s delicious smelling home cooked meal. “Not that I don’t appreciate the effort, don’t get me wrong here, but this kind of reminds me of the weird dinners Lindsay used to spring on me when the munchers wanted me to do something they knew I wouldn’t agree to. Like jerk off in a cup for them.”
Yeah, he knew the twat would roll his eyes at him.
“Brian?”
“What? I’m right, am I not?”
“Just eat, okay?”
Justin sighed and mumbled something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like That’s so like you!
Brian chose to ignore it and dug in. It would be a shame to let the good food go to waste and he was actually quite hungry. Besides, if he knew Justin, he could bet that whatever he wanted to say would come out sooner or later. More likely sooner rather than later.
“I gave it some thought, Brian…”
“You did?” Ah! There it was already. The twat still had no patience… no patience at all.
“Yes!” Justin snapped. “And could you please hear me out before you interrupt me again?”
He chewed his lip nervously, then continued with determination.
“Anyway, I gave it some thought and while I didn’t become the raving success Lindsay always hoped I would, I’ve still managed to make a name in the art scene and done all that I could do here in New York… and from now on there’s nothing more for me to do that I couldn’t do as well from home and so I’ve… so I’ve decided that it’s time for me to come home.”
“You know you’re kind of cute when you’re rambling,” Brian smirked. “But I get what you’re saying here and I think it’s damn right.”
“I am… uhmm… you do?”
“No shit. Yes, Justin, I do.” And it was about time.
He was rewarded with a blinding smile and a lap full of happy Justin.
“You know, I didn’t think we could do it,” Brian added.
“Yeah, well, I wouldn’t be totally truthful if I claimed I didn’t have any doubts myself. But we so did it. So… what do you think, Brian?”
Brian dug in his pants pocket, pulled out a very familiar small black box and, with a lop-sided grin and his tongue firmly pressed into his cheek, offered it to Justin on the palm of his hand.
“I think it’s a good thing I had the foresight to bring these with me.”
