Linux Journal does a "Reader's Choice" survey every year. The results are published in the December issue and now
on the web. I look forward to this every year.
It's always nice to see some of my personal and professional choices validated.
Best Backup Solution - rsync
Best DB Engine - mySQL
Best Office Suite - LibreOffice
Best New Open Source Project - LibreOffice
There were a couple of surprises for me this year.
Best Programing Language - Python
Best Scripting Language - Python
That Python got "Best" was not surprising. That Perl was not even runner up in either category is what surprised me.
Semi-amusing: Best Development Environment (Runner Up) - VIM.
The "Reader's Choice" awards also always give me something to explore as well.
Best Audio Player - Amarok (I still use RythmBox)
Best Game - World of Goo
Best Photo Management Tool - digiKam
