On June 28th I arrived home from a 2 week trip to China and Hong Kong. About 10 days in China and 3 in Hong Kong. I came home early (my mother was there until yesterday, the 9th) to make it to Anime Expo in Long Beach. ^^
Alright, now before I start posting pictures I feel that I should express some of my feelings about the trip. For reference: I'm 20, 5' tall, 100% Chinese, have white skin, med brown hair and hazel eyes, speak Cantonese but cannot read or write Chinese, and can understand bits and pieces of Mandarin (*Chinese school dropout*). >^w^<
First, the trip taught me a few things...
- In China everyone assumed I spoke Mandarin.
- Were I taller and prettier I might have been able to become an idol there, people were so amazed by my smooth and white-white skin. ^^;
- In Hong Kong everyone assumed I couldn't speak Cantonese.
- I'm so very Americanized and white washed. x__x
- I saw a few very cute guys, some bad Asian hair and lots of crazy Asian drivers and pedestrians. Makes me appreciate driving here in California, where people don't suddenly dash out in front of my car (normally).
