Attention all interested in a home-ec. club!

Tomorrow I will contact somebody about starting an official club at school, but I was wondering if more people would prefer it to be an unofficial annual get-together at Eatons, etc.??

Benefits of an Official Club at School:
- More people may be able to attend because of after-school bus and that it's right at school and not a lot of travel is involved.
- Fun advertisements to put around school. (Krystine told me of an infamous picture of Russell Crowe knitting to use as a poster!)
- More organized, so plans to go to Kathy's Knit Korner or Jo-Ann's would be easier, or making those hats for homeless people.
- More diversity among people involved.
- Resources avaliable (as in when we dye yarn and such.)
- If it gets popular enough we could get shirts or maybe a float in the homecoming parade.
- I could put it on my college application. ;]

Benefits of an Unofficial Social Club:
- Food.
- More comfortable setting. (Are there couches anywhere in the school? Well, the journalism room.)
- Close knit. (No pun intended.)
- T.V.
- More food.
- Unorganized, which means everyone could do their own thing.
- It's near everywhere. (As in if it was held in downtown FG.) (Buses, shops, homes...)
- Friends who aren't particularly interested in knitting would be more willing to hang out.
- If we advertised, people outside of school may get together for it.
- And I'm sure there are other reasons....

We could be flamboyant and have an official club to meet at Eaton's...

Over Thanksgiving break I went to Kathy's Knit Korner and bought a book called Stitch 'N Bitch. The author started a knitting club in New York dubbed Stich 'N Bitch, and now Stitch 'N Bitch clubs are in practically every large city in America with a few in Europe. The clubs even have patches to iron onto shirts and bags with a cute symbolic icon. If this club goes through, I think that should be the name -- yet I don't think the school would let us use it... There are other names the author, Debbie Stoller, came up with.

Possible Names for the Club:
- Stitch 'N Bitch
- Knitty Gritty
- Getting Knitty with it
- Knit Happens

And, of course, people can come up with their own names... The ultimate name would be put to a vote.

Whatever! Just ideas.
