How you play the game

I love playing Scrabble.
I love winning at Scrabble.

Right now I'm beating someone by over 100 points.  Unfortunately, I'm not enjoying this situation even though I have rather excellent tiles and a wide open board.  It's no fun if it's too easy or the other person is not enjoying themselves too.  They can't possibly even up the score when they keep swapping tiles...even when I'm leaving triple word scores open for them.  Yes, it's quite painful to not play a bingo BUT...I like chatting with this person and the connection we have while playing because we rarely see each other. I figure that's a lot more important than slamming down a 200 pointer.  I'd rather play lower point words and keep my score down than trounce on someone who really can't keep up, so that they'll still play with me.

To be honest, I love playing scrabble more than I need to win at scrabble.

**forgive my bad pronoun usage (they)...despite the fact that they don't read LJ, you just never know when they'll start.
