Birthday week continues...

Jul 17, 2007 22:32

It started last Thursday when I got in the groove at Dix's for Thomasina's birthday.   I had bought the princess a beautiful purple rhinestone bejeweled tiara.  It was perfect for the occasion.  She passed it around and everyone had a chance to ham it up for the camera.

I wish I knew how Don made this compilation pic.  I have a series of pics of Sylvia and another of Mark that I would just LOVE to create.

Friday the 13th was my actual birthday, and even though I could have taken the day off, I wanted to spend it with my students.  For the morning class we watched Grease!  I gave them the lyrics to the songs and we sang along.  It was a rather fun way to earn a day's wages!  On Fridays we always have a potluck lunch together and on this special day, my mom asked to join us.  She brought Palacinke, Czech crepes stuffed with cottage cheese, cinnamon, and strawberries....my favourite treat as a kid!   The students brought lots of yummy dishes from Thailand, Korea and China...then they sang happy birthday and gave me lucky bamboo as a gift.  I really love Bamboo.  I've actually moved a shelving unit by the window in the livingroom which Mark and i plan to cover just with plants.  Let's hope they survive!

Then downstairs to the staff room at 1:00 for cake with the school and a gift of Starbucks goodies.  They know me far too well around there.  Mom and I hung out in my office for about an hour with various students dropping by to wish me well, meet my mom and tell her nice things about her daughter.  It was very sweet. I was eventually told to take the rest of the day off.  Did I mention that I love my work?  Then again, they probably realized that I was not going to get a thing done.

Friday night we went to the Fixe.  There were three other gals celebrating their bdays too:  Jo (9th), Lori (13th) and Louise (14th).   I had ordered a cake from Michelle at the Cameo and she certainly came through with a decadent Dutch chocolate mouse layer cake with fresh strawberries, blueberries and kiwi. I have to admit it was the most expensive birthday cake I've ever purchased.  But it was worth it.  I also blew a wad of cash on bday prezzies for Lou and Jo.
jropeI got a "jackhammer jesus" dildo!

Jo I gave an adorable double necklace and  earring set in red rhinestones and black.
starra74....i damn well owe her.  I completely forgot to buy her shooters as promised.  I think I was too tipsy at that point to order any more.  *grin* Next time, girl.  We all got up together on stage to have some strange Happy birthday song played for us  -I think I started to CanCan...and I was pretty sure Lou was gonna make a break for it.  We blew out candles and had cake (for the second time that day).

DJ Johnny Cupid was pretty good for his first night with out group and a few people got up to dance; Andra was stunning, as expected, for her burlesque performances.  She was only going to do one, to help promote her event, Burlesque AllStars, at the end of the month, but was having so much fun, she decided to do a second number.  Glad she did as the red dress she wore was so elegant.  I wish I had a picture to share.

Had a good time goofing about with everyone. Btw, I was dressed as a school girl because I refused to bring in 40 dressed like a 40 year old.  I thought 14 would be more appropriate.  hehehe

After the Fixe, we went home and although I had heard whisper of it, I was surprised to come home and find a deck full of a dozen folks who had come by for a midnight swim.  Mark had just put the pool up the day before, so it was FREEZING.  A few of us decided to brave the water anyway...I think I was too drunk to care...I have no idea what
sage_subdreams excuse was.  Mark never needs an excuse to be naked in the pool.

I think I passed out about 3 or 4am having had a really great day. Thanks to all of you who helped make it a great day. Thanks to Ryan for the pics, more to come.  :)
