Arthur/Merlin, Arthur gets badly injured in battle/training/tournament and now he can't wield a sword anymore. A lot of Angst and How can I become a King when I can't even protect the kingdom! Or something like that. Merlin comforts him.

It's nearly a month before Arthur is on his feet enough to walk around the Castle. The first day he lasts only a moment before a chambermaid stares at the place where his jerkin is tied around the stub of his sword arm and then goes back to his room ( ... )

Arthur/Merlin. For whatever reason, Gaius doesn't step up to take Merlin's place, and Merlin remains imprisoned under suspicion of sorcery. Aredian sets about getting his confession in a similar way to what we saw for Gaius (and other ways we didn't see?). Cue protective!Arthur and lots of angsty hurt/comfort. Happy or sad ending is author's choice.
