“Welcome back to the show, it's always lovely to have you here.”
“The pleasure is mine, Helen.” Arthur kissed her on the cheek and sat across from the dark haired beauty, while a large audience looked on.
“So I think I have to bring up the elephant in the room,” she teased.
“Oh lordy.”
“People magazine's sexiest man alive, for the second time!” The house, primarily made up of teenage girls, screamed. “How does that feel?”
“It feels incredible. You know, I'm gunning for a third win, just so I can tell Clooney to 'suck it.'”
Helen laughed. The audience laughed. They soaked up Arthur's words like he was the oxygen to their existence.
“No, but I'm incredibly honored. It's a little weird, actually. My boyfriend thinks it's all a big mistake.” Arthur chuckled at his own joke. “But then again, he's always putting me down.”
“Sounds like a healthy relationship you two have,” Helen jibed. “I think we have a picture.”
Arthur's face faltered, and then a large image of Merlin punching Arthur was splayed across the walls. He laughed.
“Care to explain?”
“Actually, that is what it is. Merlin punched me,” he deadpanned. “But,” he continued with a coy smile, “to be fair, I did dare him to do it.”
“Now this picture has incited a lot of controversy from anti-domestic abuse related sources. What do you have to say about that?”
“I mean, honestly we were just joking around. I'm sorry if we've offended anybody, that certainly wasn't our intention. We were just having the paparazzi on.”
“I get that. Now lets talk about your new TV series, All Voyagers, which will be premiering on HBO soon. Tell me a bit about it.”
“Well, it's this fantastic script that was penned by the legendary Mister Lancelot du Lac, whom many of you may recognize - he wrote The Beyond. Anyway, I play the lead detective-type character, Thomas Stoker, who gets involved in this wonderfully complex mystery. It's really just a lot of fun. It's dark, and sexy, and somehow brings a lot of plausibility to some very fringe concepts. I love it.”
“That's great. It's wonderful to see an actor so excited for their project. Now, tell me, you're a respected A-list actor, what made you want to jump onto the silver screen.”
“You know, I told myself I wouldn't. For the longest time. But then my agent sent the script over, and said that if I wanted to join the golden age of the cable-show, that this would be my ticket. I read it, and loved it. Merlin read it and loved it, and really loved the thought of me in it. And well, I couldn't say no at that point.”
“That's brilliant. Isn't he brilliant?” Helen pandered to the audience with a grin. “Handsome, a wonderful boyfriend, and incredibly intelligent.” A startling scream echoed back in response.
“I'm really not. Merlin always jokes that I'm the face, and he's the brains.”
“Now, if memory serves, he's a bit of a looker too, though.”
“He's got it all...”
“So things are going well between you then.”
“Yeah, actually. Quite well, I think.”
“Any plans to see you two get some rings on those fingers?”
“No formal plans, no. We're still learning about each other.”
“That's sweet. And after - three years, is it?”
Arthur nodded. “Almost four.”
“Wow, almost four. That's like the diamond anniversary in Hollywood years.”
Arthur laughed.
“Well, Arthur, your gorgeous and talented. And, I've seen the first episode for All Voyagers and it really is fantastic, so I'm excited. Thank you for being here.”
“Thank you for having me.”
Helen looked into the camera. “All Voyagers premiers next Sunday at 10 on HBO. We have to take a break, but we'll be back with Gwaine Macken, Arthur's co-star sitting right there.”
She smiled, and the audience clapped and - commercials were rolling.
Arthur and Helen stood, and she gave him a light hug before he waved to the audience. He grabbed a pen off of Helen's desk, and signed a few autographs before exiting the stage.
