Arthur/Merlin, Arthur/Gwen, Gwen/Merlin (friendship), post-3x13.

Merlin and Gwen thought they were the only ones who knew about Morgana's magic and her allegiance to Morgause before she took over Camelot (other than Gaius, anyway). In the wake of Morgana's brief and horrible reign, though, they learn that that is far from the truth. As they meet with the castle's servants on Arthur's behalf (taking stock of supplies, damage to the castle, who is dead and needs replaced, etc), they find out that many of the servants knew of it, or at least part of it.

Basically, I'd love for Merlin and Gwen to learn of a castle-wide conspiracy among the servants to protect Camelot from Morgana, both before and after she and Morgause took over. Small gestures of defiance, making Morgana and Morgause's lives as difficult as they dare, perhaps even sneaking food and water to Uther and the captive knights, that kind of thing. Because the little people have minds of their own, and they're not inclined to choose a crazy and cruel Morgana and her pet sorceress/sister over their beloved prince and the (less loved but still respected) king.

Bonus points for Merlin and Gwen telling Arthur about this and him kicking himself for not seeing what practically every single servant in the castle did.

I want this like BURNING. we need more of this awesomeness from the citizens of Camelot. And Merlin! I don't know if this is the right place to do this, but what if Merlin was actually the head of this conspiracy? What if he was the one who instructed everyone to make life as hard as possible for Morgana/Morgause? And what if Gwen was the one to tell Arthur this? Because she knows Arthur doesn't appreciate Merlin (outwardly) as much as he should, for all that Merlin does for him? Dare I ask for a reveal?

Hm, maybe make this an official variation? The prompt as it currently stands does ask for Gwen and Merlin *both* to be unaware of the conspiracy among the servants and having them only find out *after* Camelot is retaken, so asking for Merlin to be aware of it is a significant difference. This would make an awesome variation, though! :D
