Arthur/Merlin, OT4 friendship, canon era, girl!Merlin

The Moment of Truth AU

When Hunith comes before Uther to ask him to help Ealdor, one of the noblemen in the crowd recognizes her. After the audience, he pursues her and Merlin back to Gaius' chambers, and Hunith is forced to explain to Merlin how she knows him. The nobleman, a close friend of Uther's, is her former lover... and Merlin's father. When the OT4 returns from saving Ealdor, they find that things have seriously changed for Merlin as a result of her parentage. She's no longer recognized as a servant, but as a nobleman's daughter.

I'd love to see the following sprinkled into the fic:
-Merlin's father isn't anti-magic because his own mother was a sorceress (though he himself never showed any signs of magic -- it all passed on to Merlin), one who backed Uther's conquest of Camelot and died for it; he just appears anti-magic because to be not so would get him killed
-Merlin's father has no other children and his wife is long dead, so Merlin is his sole heir, making her a very eligible match to the noble sons and knights of Camelot... much to Arthur's dismay and Morgana and Gwen's amusement
-Merlin ends up taking 'how-to-be-a-lady' lessons from Morgana and Gwen
-Merlin is wary of her father, despite his secret pro-magic beliefs, and hesitant to trust him at first
-Arthur flails a bit over Merlin's change in status, secretly fearful that she won't fuss over him like she always has (because he enjoys her fussing, even if he complains about it)
-Because Merlin's father had no heir for so many years, he was considering naming Arthur his heir, something Uther supported; now that he has Merlin, he makes her his heir, obviously, but this prompts Uther to start getting ideas (namely, possibly forwarding a marriage between Arthur and Merlin, that way Arthur will inherit her father's lands, just by right of his wife); basically, I want Uther being politically savvy in the face of Merlin's new status
-Of course if the betrothal idea is made public, then Merlin has to start considering how to break the news of her magic to Arthur before she agrees to marry him
-All of this happens while still dealing with the rest of the events of the first series (and maybe even some of the second series -- because Lady Merlin having to deal with Cedric's nosing about Arthur would be amazing)

-Also, Merlin has to deal with the fact that it's more difficult to continuously save Arthur's royal backside from the threat of the week as a nobleman's daughter (servants are fairly invisible to others in their comings and goings, noblewomen are not)
