The company's name is Immucor, and I am in their document control dept. The company is great!! I've worked in retail for the past 18yrs and decided about a year ago to change my career and go into something more stable. I found them through a temp company, my first assignment, and they loved me - and kept me :)
Immucor makes blood type testing kits for bloodbanks, dialysis (sp) centers, hospitals, and transplant/transfusion labs. Basically, the kits determine certain enzymes in the blood for type (B, O-,AB+ etc) as well as other elements needed to match persons with organs/blood. This company is internationally corporate and well known in the medical device field, yet treats it's employees like they are still a small mom n pop company. I love it...
Being in the blood/medical device industry, we also work closely with FDA and ISO (international "version" of FDA) and that is why you may see me freaking out now and then in my journal when they arrive. FDA gives no notice, and can shut you down with a snap of the finger if they feel necessary. ISO tends to announce when they are coming, and will not allow you to sell to the hospitals etc overseas if you do not meet their requirements.
