You know what with this week? I liked this week. My annual review for my currently insane work came up, they were effusive with praise & I'm comforted by praise. Then they hired a guy to help me. I've been needing that, so I'm happier still. Then it snowed all day beautifully.
On Tuesday the Dean brothers rolled into town & took me to the grog shop to see Goblin - very fun, recommended experience. I'd heard it mentioned & talked about, but it was very neat. Toward the end of their performance they play a video, it looks like it's 10-15 years old, of them, playing the song they were then playing. I don't think I'd like that, as a performer, to have my younger more vital self looming over me. It was too cold to do anything else afterward, but it was really great seeing them. Brent seems committed to making the trip up again today.
Wednesday Julie came by to stay the night. She was on the radio the next day and didn't want to take chances with the weather. We stayed up watching videos and talking about communist stuff. She goes to the radio Thursday morning & just stay working. I kind of landed on shut in for the last few days just because of the cold & snow. I like that though, it's like quarantine, you can't be made to feel shame for your idleness when it's enforced by nature.
Naturally the big news for the last couple of days is this DDD character, who has kindled some hope & joy in the old household. I despair pretty often of this country's moral bankruptcy, but here & there we'll produce an actual hero. A Dragonslayer no less. We should all hope that we would be similarly courageous if we met a billionaire. Really, my spirits have been uplifted & I've had a spring in my step. It's the reverse of the israeli pager attacks, that felt like there would never not be darkness, that we would all be sacrificed to evil desires. But here, here is a man who would not take it anymore, here is a man who stood up... Haha. You can't ascribe motivations to an unknown person. You can't know who they are or who they work for, none of that. You'll always have to wonder why & how - but a dragon was slain, one of the archons was taken off the board. It can only be regarded as good.
