The class is so unfocused that I think, “Good Lord: how does any education take place?” I try quieting students by looping silver chains, much like dogtag chains, in mouths, but realize that will do more harm than good.
A test is given, and some students chat as though it was groupwork. I finally start speaking forcefully - what some of you would call “yelling” - at everyone, including the host teachers, about why silence during tests is the norm. I then begin to explain Information Processing Theory. I diagram at which points one disengages, shifts, enhances focus, using the example of entering the room.
I wake up creating the diagram in my mind.
