School dreams
1. After being ambushed in the office by angry parents, and lectured by the principal, I am suspended from work for one day because I implied that a student was poor because she had a generic daypack/bookbag.
2. I'm called to the principal's office. Apparently, someone downloaded a racist organization's logo onto a disk of curriculum that I gave to colleague who teaches honors students. (I know exactly the knucklehead kid who'd download that crap...)
I'm told that the class was very upset -- poor dears! I think to myself.
I notice the principal is going through old yearbooks to see if there are racist materials inside.
He has one book open to a duotone of an ROTC class, in olive drab fatigues, with M-1 Garands.
I wonder if he realizes that duotones died out in the late seventies.
