German Christmas.
Snow covering Ready Kaserne, my post with 3/69 and 4/66 Armor and 3rd HHC. The sound of a snow flurry, a soft hiss.
Have you ever heard this, my friends?
I'd open the window and freeze just to take it in with the senses.
"Damn Andersen, shut the window!"
Scott Peeler was a bunkmate. Scott liked to listen to Dan Fogelberg. That music has since now bound up with that time, that beauty. (Thank you, Scott.)
And here I see Fogelberg has died of prostate cancer. 56.
I mentioned to Kevin the other day that at 44, we're half way there. "We're more than half way," he said with certainty.
He's right. Some of us. (I have nine more incarnations to go -- you poor dopey bastards haven't accepted that the Cycle binds you yet!)
You should listen to the song "Same Old Lang Syne"; it's a story, and, at least to me, there's certainly a poignancy to it tonight, and these days. (Perhaps give "Leader of The Band" a once-through.)
Many things near closure.
(Paradoxically, it's merely the flow of things; that's what keeps me going.)
