My May Reading

She - H. Rider Haggard
Strange little book that I picked up after catching the last half of the horribly-executed movie. Fairly old, rather dull, and with a sequel that sounds hilarious, but will likely also be rather dull, so I don't expect to read it.

Watership Down - Richard Adams
Figured it was time I read this classic, and I'm really glad I did. It was way better than I expected it to be - probably one of the best books I've read so far this year. Not a kids' book, despite how it's generally classified, but an excellent adult book.

The Italian - Ann Radcliffe
A recommendation from a friend. An intriguing story full of twists you couldn't possibly predict, and great characters. I too, recommend this book.

Testimony: The Memoirs of Dmitri Shostakovich
An amazing portrait of life in Stalin's Russia. I can't really even begin to describe it, but if have any interest in either Russian history or music, it's well worth the read.

Oryx & Crake - Margaret Atwood
Despite not being a big fan of Atwood, I'd heard enough good things about this book, and the premise sounded interesting enough that I thought I'd give it a try. And I'm glad I did. It's definitely one of the bette Atwood books I've read. I liked it so much I'm even considering reading the sequel when it comes out.
