But it's perfectly easy to become green. All you have to do is drop a glass bottle of green food colouring on the floor, which is easily accomplished by having the shelf on which it normally sits randomly detach itself from the wall. And I'm so happy it happened right in the middle of cooking dinner, too. So currently, half our spice bottles and whatnot are all green, there's a huge green splotch on the floor that we're somehow going to have to get rid of before we move out, and several of my toes are largely green. Because gangrene is such a charming look. Fortunately, we managed to avoid having a green cat, although I believe there's also a small speck of glass lodged in my thumb. And we no longer have any counter space, because all the crap that was on the shelf is now on the counter. Sigh.
In other news, aside from ending up slightly overcooked in the confusion, dinner was kinda cool. We'd been eyeing the purple cauliflowers at the market for a while, so for what might be my last market trip, I decided to buy one. It tastes slightly different, but not terribly noticeably, and provides a lovely burst of colour, especially with the yellow sauce I usually put on it. The cooked colour is even prettier than the raw, too. And it leaves the water over which you steam it a very nice blue. And it has more vitamins than regular cauliflower. All in all, pretty cool.
