I've been sifting through other people's shared itunes, and was completely blown away by the music collections of those around me. I'm currently listening to the Shins album that hasn't been released yet. These faceless indie snobs have compiled some absolutely brilliant musical treasure troves, and I can only aspire to their greatness.
Despite my admiration, I am highly skeptical that so many people around me can have so extensive and obscure a collection without the benefit of file sharing, which appears to be impossible here. I mean, who can afford complete collections of bands like Donovan, Of Montreal, or Mogwai, while still owning seemingly every mainstream rock album ever made? Surely people with such disposable incomes wouldn't be living in a dorm.
So, I sense a vast conspiracy. People are sharing music somehow. The boring 3 doors down fan must of gotten his Pedro the Lion and !Forward, Russia! albums from some indie loving snob. It's the only explanation.
Hopefully, someday, I will get my grubby hands all over this tantalizing gloriousness. Until then, I will continue to scroll and drool, scroll and drool, all the while aching with jealousy. Damn them. Damn them all.
